I went back through my shots from that day and found this one.
While it could be better, it does show how he managed to get her on her back.
It was a surprise attack and she was favoring that injured front left paw.
Since, her paw isn't bothering her anymore, he is a lot more careful and I try to keep an eye on him when I am there.
But, who knows what goes on when I am not there.
I just hope she doesn't get injured again.
Mating season starts in March and usually more males show up.

Finally I have taken some nature photos!
Yesterday I had a day out with a friend, part of which was to see the grey seals at Donna Nook.
We were lucky with the weather and though there were far fewer seals than on previous visits there I got better views and photos.
This was one of my favourite pup photos. This was one of many that were right up against the fence that stops the seals and humans mixing and I had to lean far over to get the photo.
There were quite a variety of colours in the pups.
All four of North Shore's "Pups", GE steeplecabs, are at the Pettibone yard enginehouse in North Chicago, 2/12/62. They got the nickname when the first ones were delivered, being called "Big Puppies". They were larger than the 2 original steeple cabs that had been purchased by the Chicago & Milwaukee Electric predecessor. Photo by Ed DeRouin, from my collection.
Here's another shot from Ethiopia. These were the four pups of the Meggity Pack. Here they are having a boisterous game that involves one pup running for its life while the others all chase after it!
In recent years, diseases transmitted by domestic dogs have reduced the number of adult animals in the Meggity Pack from more than twenty to just two. As these four pups grew and required more food, the two overworked adults were unable to provide enough and as a result, at least two of these pups have now died :(

the face of this silver fox vixen really says " give me a break" but her pups won't do her that favor...
This newborn pup was only a day or two old, and its white "lanugo" baby fur, was still stained by the afterbirth. Photographed at Donna Nook, Lincolnshire
One of the few highlights of 2020, this seal pup was literally posing for us. I wanted to share this kind of experience with my wife, and one of the reward to do so, was to see her face glowing at the sight of this beautiful creature. A moment that made 2020 more bearable.
Created with fd's Flickr Toys.
Sorry for those who commented on the original image - I made the image public before I realized I needed to make the 4 images square!
Just having some fun with Cola and MS Photodraw! Lost some of the clarity but I'll have to work on that!
I changed the title thanks to getthebubbles!
I met this little pup while I was at a rose garden the other day.
Look at the smile that appeared just as I asked if I could take a photo.
This shot is a tribute to the Pup who we lost unexpectedly about 9 months ago. He had gotten into something that was toxic that took him quickly.
This was one of his favourite areas to explore down here in the desert. So I think it's a fitting shot for him.
This is the first landscape shot I have taken since then. Definitely lost all urge to grab the camera.
This shot was taken down in the Palm Springs Area of California.
We do have a new pup, but he's still got some learning to do. But I'm sure he'll do just fine as time moves on
Went out to day light was rubbish thought I was going home with nothing until we found some seal pups I was over the moon they just posed for us
Recently I landed a fieldwork job, I love it because I get to visit towns near and outside the city. Get to see all these pets and it seems like they are waiting for a camera to walk past them.

This scruffy little guy was so sweet- he was on duty guarding his owner who was selling handmade jewelery on the beach.

Ohau Stream
New Zealand
This is a shot I wanted to try before I got to Ohau. It's a seal pup at the base of the waterfall taken at high iso with a short exposure combined with a long exposure with a CPL for the rest of the scene. If you've been there, you know that there are many pups constantly splashing in the background and it's pretty dark in there! The polariser made the scene appear nicer overall but really limited the ability to take action shots because of the higher iso needed. Charlotte also became more interested in my tripod than the seals after a while, so we ended up just watching rather than photographing
Pictured is a pair of this years Groundhog pups (there are four, altogether). The one on the right appears as if it's sitting at the dining room table! Photographed in my yard in NE Oklahoma.
A wild Common Seal pup at Donna Nook, Lincolnshire, 2009. This chap (or chapess!) gave me a couple of shots which had I returned with nothing else would have made my day. This is my favourite, I like the definition of its whiskers against the white puppy coat.
