We have made it our mission to help them do this. At the same time we hope to enrich the lives of those who adopt them.
Not sure why this little mouse pup was out of the nest, something must have spooked it out. After swimming in the creek for a bit, it hauled itself out here. So young that it's eyes have not even opened yet.
Nature can be very cruel sometimes.

This pup came in as a stray. She didn't have a name yet. You can see in her photos that she was wonderful about sitting still so I could take her photo. So many of the pups don't ever stay still. She is absolutely precious and loving. I don't think she'll be at the shelter long.
2-week old pup, orphaned after the storm (which hit the western U.S. starting Jan. 4, 2008). Named the "Sorm of the Century"... although the century had barely started.
This pup was certainly separated from its mother at Año Nuevo State Reserve. It was found stranded at Waddell Creek Beach, Santa Cruz County, over the weekend.
