Originally we planned to go to Tunnels Falls, which is about 4 miles past this point. However, we took the wrong trail to begin with and did a 3.5 mile hike up a mountain to Wauna Viewpoint before we did the 2 mile hike out here.
Taken during the Big Grin - a celebration marking the 'birthday' of Mr Punch. The date has been chosen because Samuel Pepys made an entry in his diary for 9 May 1662, noting the marionette performance of "Signor Bologna" in Covent Garden.
The Big Grin featured a parade of Professors around the piazza, a mass photocall, and then individual performances.

In the 19th Century "Hit Men" and "Muggers" (they used different names to describe them but they were the same sort of people) would signal to one another with whistles ~ sometimes imitating bird calls, sometimes whistling an "invisible dog."
They still do this today.
"Come along o' me." ~ as Eliza Doolittle famously said "Not bloody likely!"
I went down to The Levee for their 2000th show. Andrew Waterman, Eastern Owl, Punch Table, and The Happy Campers all played sets. It was great.
The first in a series in which Jess and I decided it would be a good idea to stage photographs of me punching everyone still left at the party. One of the few that looks like an actual punch.

Poor chap! being put off his food by the hot weather. I sigh for him! (sigh)
But it's nice to know that they were grumbling about the weather all that long time ago.
Makes me seem less of a grump.
