A giant pumpkin patch, just outside of Kentville, Nova Scotia

Edible but usually not eaten. Used mostly for decoration, they look like the pumpkin that became Cinderella's Coach.

I've just 'gutted' this. Slimey. Seedy. Smells a bit odd in an almost nice sort of way. Ready to carve a face or something on it.

This is a farm on the way into Pickering from Malton. We often stop at the cart selling veg and it's fabulous this time of year with the pumpkins on display. Thomas and I got a pumpkin each.

My second ever attempt at pumpkin carving - it wasn't a 'thing' in Britain when I was growing up, although I notice more pumpkin-themed images in British people's Halloween pics each year.

Last time I carved a pumpkin was with my son back in 1995 or 1996 when he came to visit me in Marin.

This one was a bit more ambitious as I attempted go for a Court of the Crimson King vibe. Maybe my next attempt will be more successful.

Them pumpkins sure is tough to cut.

We had plans to photograph our niece in the pumpkin patch in Bracken, but the weather and a bad attitude foiled our plans. Still got a few cool shots before the rain started.

There were lots of ugly pumpkins this time around. I like ugly pumpkins for some reason.
