I knew by the time I got home from the grocery store it would be too dark for outside pics and my grocery store has such lovely mums and pumpkins out front that I snapped some pics of them for our 31 days of October challenge.

This is an exhibition of pumpkins arranged for sale. The plant is a cultivar of Cucurbita pepo and belongs to the family of the Cucurbitaceae. Garten Kürbis

At the Dallas Arboretum's Pumpkin Village

This picture was sent to me by a friend with no ID who made the picture. It’s been around the internet. I used Photoshop to improve the image for Flickr

But what’s really important is not the picture maker but who did the sculpture? This is an amazing work of art. I like how the artist uses minimal carvings on each pumpkin and yet you know exactly what he is trying to say. As an art historian I would rank it with other great sculptures especially those of the modern era. This would make a wonderful addition to any museum. If the artist could be identified I would lovingly place his or her name here.

Every time I look at this I laugh or smile. So that’s the main reason I placed it. Flickr people have a good laugh in these sad economical times.
