We took the kids to The Plant Farm yesterday, and had a lot of fun. :) It did sprinkle a bit while we were there, but it wasn't a big deal. They had a ton of pumpkins to walk around and choose from, and the proceeds to go buy books for the schools. The Rotary sets it up and donates their time and has all kinds of fun things for the kids to do. C_ loved running around through the pumpkins - I think she'd have done that all day if we'd let her. ;)
A plentiful harvest of hybrid pumpkins of all shapes and sizes are available at one of our local produce stand this fall.
After seeing this last year, Anna found this in the farm shop and kinda had to buy it! And the photo opportunities abound, but they're for friends and family only!
I carved 'Thundar' the NDSU Bison logo on my pumpkin this year. It was popular with the Trick-or-Treat-ers this year. This pumpkin was physically harder to carve this year- it wasn't ripe. (It didn't come from Victor.) I carved most of this design with an X-acto Knife and only worked a little around the border, eyes and horns with my clay sculpture tools.
