Pumpkins are not just for Halloween. They are great storage vegetables. We have a selection which should last until well after Christmas.

The Great Pumpkin and I (along with all the little pumpkins) wish you a Happy Halloween from this worthy pumpkin patch!

These are our giant pumpkins. The dirty bucket was to give some perspective to the size of these things. They aren't record breakers but they were BIG for us!
Skill from Photo 5:
Depth of Field and Personal Ideas: The first pumpkin is slightly blurry to put those behind it in focus. The image also captures natural light. This photo is important to me due to its meaning. Through the photographers we learned about each week throughout the quarter, I realized how important it is to take shots that are personal rather than always aesthetically pleasing.
While I am not living at home in the Bay Area at the moment, the photos included in my "MyWorld" album truly depict my life and myself while I am here at university.
The first photo was taken at Avila Valley Farm in San Luis Obispo. My roommate and I drove over to go to the pumpkin patch. Although it was pretty crowded, we both went home with 3 pumpkins each. Going to the pumpkin patch every year with my family was a tradition when I was younger. Ever since I left for school, I have not been able to go with them. Traditions and family are a huge part of who I am now as a person.
The next image is of Emma. She is a Golden Retriever and I work as her dog walker while I am here at school. Being with her helps me miss my dog at home a little less. As an Animal Science major, dogs are a passion of mine. I have a lot of experience with animals, and one day hope to open my own doggie daycare facility. When I am not out walking Emma, I spend my time volunteering at the local animal shelter in town.
I took the third photo as I was getting ready for a school event. These are my favorite boots and I absolutely love wearing them with shorts. Although I adore animals, fashion is also a passion of mine. I enjoy going shopping and putting new outfits together.
The following image is of my polaroid photo wall above my bed. I really enjoy using my polaroid camera but it is heavy and film can get quite expensive. I look at the wall every night. The collage includes photos of my family, friends, pets, and places I have been.
The last photo was also taken at Avila Valley Farm. Sunflowers are my favorite flower. They remind me to be happy and optimistic. I recently bought a bundle to keep in my apartment. Living in San Luis Obispo, you quickly learn that agriculture is a key part of the city. We have acres and acres of land used for agriculture, and weekly farmers' markets.
I really enjoyed taking my camera with me everywhere while I was taking photos for this project. The camera helped me to notice that there are beautiful things all around me, and that I can find a piece of myself in each and every one of them. I think I also realized how different my school life is from the one I live back home. I wish I could have been able to take photos that portrayed a piece of my life in the Bay Area with my family. I was proud that I was able to successfully navigate and use the new camera that I rented out. I was surprised by the great quality of the photos when I transferred them over to my computer. I feel that all 5 photos fit together well. Although they are simple, they define who I am. Thank you!
