Power Tools Pumpkin Carving: Sunday, October 28, 12-4pm, Somerville Ave between Loring & Laurel Streets

Come join five of our resident rockstar artists as they apply their power tools carving skills to giant pumpkins in the middle of Somerville Avenue. Cat Tweedie Ball, Dan Sternof Byer, Ecco Pierce, Spark, and Jacob LaRocca will each be taking a 150 pound pumpkin and making it their own.

And you don’t just have to watch! Bring your own pumpkin and carve with us — qualified Asylum members are free to use the power tools on their own pumpkins of any size, and anyone at all is welcome to bring their own implements and dig in with us — we’ll have plenty of extra tables and chairs.

This event is part of the Somerstreets MonsterMashedUp Fall Festival — there will be performances and activities all along Somerville Ave, between Union and Porter Squares.

Each of the kids had their own pumpkin, picked from the field during their field trip to Simmon's Farm in Pennsylvania. From left to right they are Caleb's, Leah's, Joshua's and Hannah's. Their father did the actual knife work but the faces were their own designs.

About 700 people came around and voted on the pumpkins in our Swansea Toronto neighborhood Halloween Pumpkin Contest. Winners receive much praise and bragging rights but all the entries look great and are enjoyed by everyone.

This neighborhood event is organized by the ladies at CHARLAND DESIGNS, who have been running this contest for several years.

This 443 lbs. pumpkin is on display at the local Home Depot store. I thought at first it was made of plastic or ceramic. It won 9th place at the Indiana State fair.

Irvine Regional Park Pumpkin Patch

Tie for first place in the largest pumpkin contest at The Bloomsburg Fair in the Horticulture Building.

The weight is 1,036 pounds.

Pumpkins at the pumpkin patch...no way!

so i carved my pumpkin - started at 9 and i ended around 11:30 - thats how precise i am sometimes - the first person to guess where the face is from gets a cookie!
