Do pumpkins come in shades of grey? From a stand off Route 2 near Acton, Mass

I had never seen Blue Pumpkins until I took this picture.

The other night we went out to my Mamaw Ruby's house to get some water (our water is not all that great for drinking). I saw these pumpkins then and wished I had my camera. I guess it's just as well because the sun had went down and I would have had to do a lot of work to them to make them look decent. The next day I walked out there and took these photos of the pumpkins. The church had their fall festival a couple of weeks ago and they used the field above my Mamaw Ruby's house (since it's so close to the church) to set up a pumpkin patch. Not sure what they used it for but I thought it was neat and thought the pumpkins were pretty against the grass.

Pumpkin Patch, oho, Pumpkin Patch....

Pumpkins at Slindon, West Sussex. The design celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Spitfire.

Earlier today, I found a stray dog. She was a lovely yellow lab, full of kisses and eager to jump in my vehicle for a ride! I finally tracked down her master, after calls to the sheriff's dept, the Humane Society, and the veterinarian's office. "Goldie's" owner was so relieved I'd found her, and he came immediately to retrieve her... along with his other yellow lab in the front seat of his pick-up! The old widower had been so concerned about his missing companion, that he brought along 3 pumpkins from his garden to offer me in thanks for caring for his dog.

Just yesterday, my daughter had requested pumpkin pie for this Thanksgiving (though I usually make sweet potato cheesecake). I guess I'm meant to put pumpkin pie on the menu this year!

I'm thankful for good-hearted people who love their dogs, and for pumpkins that arrive to make a holiday complete!
