Slow roasted pork, pulled and saturated in homemade barbeque sauce, piled high on a house baked bun and topped with creamy cole slaw. This awesome sandwich is served French fries.

This is one of the lunch menu items offered at Daiquiri Dick's restaurant in Puerto Vallarta.

Also known as the WSM. This is the 18.5" model. It has two cooking levels, so can cook quite a bit of meat. Has a water tray that acts as a heat sink which helps moderate the heat. Simply adjusting the bottom vents gets you the rest of the way.

This grill costs AU $700 here in Sydney, but I was able to order it from Amazon for US $275 and ship to Australia for another $85. Ordered Wednesday night and it arrived Monday morning. All told it cost ~AU $330.

American + Singapore + Japan = this dish.

Awesome!

I love Bak Chor Mee; and this new form brought new sensations and tastes to my tastebuds!

While I decided to eat breakfast when I woke up around 4 a.m., Phil waited until we reached the airport and made a beeline straight for Corky's.

It was very easy to pull.

Each of those sandwiches must have weighed a quarter pound. The only problem was that this was not what I ordered. I ordered the "Taylor Pork Roll Sandwich", but this is what I got instead.

I could have complained, but I didn't want to ruin my meal, so I ate this. I would have rather had the Taylor Pork Roll. It's not so much that I like "Taylor Pork Roll" so much, as much as I wanted to see how they prepared it at this fairly fancy restaurant that just opened a few days ago at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino.

A nice Pulled Pork "competition" between the Weber OTP including smokenator, WSM 57 (22,5inch) and the BGE XL.

Okay so not a real competition as there are always to manny variables; meat is always different, ed. Still a nice thing to do.

In the end we did notice some difference especially about the tenderness. The BGE XL came out a little on top and after it the WSM. Have to say the thermometer of the OTP wasn't calibrated well,... unfortunately during almost the complete session the dome temperature was about ~20 degrees higher.

Well,.. we had loads of fun making this Pulled Pork. Best thing loads of PP. ;-)

mmmmmmmhhhhmmmmmmmmm

Home made pulled pork is a lot of work. I think the pork turned out well, but the coleslaw needs to be a creamier variety.

An hour of prep. Five hours of cooking. An hour to pull the pork apart. Two minutes to eat.

Recipe:

1st step:

Marinade Rub (all approximate measurements - just threw together what seemed yummy)

1/2 Tbs. each mixed coriander seeds, cumin seeds, funegreek, crushed dried poblano pepper, sea salt, and peppercorns. Cook in dry pan til smell releases - about 45 seconds.

Grind til powdery - remove dried pepper skin that doesn't become powdery

1/2 head garlic - mince

Place everything in small bowl with 2 Tbs whiskey 1 Tbs maple syrup. Mix well. Should have paste quality.

2nd step:

Pat dry a 2 1/2 pound roast with paper towels.

Rub marinade over all sides of roast.

Place roast in 5 quart baking dish/roaster/heavy pot with lid (or whatever size you have that will hold the roast - 3 1/2 qt. should fit this amount of meat).

Cover and place in refrigerator over night

3rd step:

Remove roast to plate.

Put water on to boil - enough to cover roast - about 5 cups.

Pre-heat oven to 250-deg.

Mince about 1/2 cup shallots (or onion).

Place pot on stovetop

Saute shallots/onions in roast pot with some olive oil.

After about 3 minutes add roast.

Sear for about 3 min.

Turn over, sear 2nd side 3 minutes or so.

Add boiling water.

Let boil 30 seconds or so.

Cover.

Place in oven and bake for 3 hours or until it all pulls apart when you place a fork in center of roast and twist fork.

Serve with rice and black beans.

This platter consisted of two huge Beef Ribs, BBQ Chicken, Pulled Pork, and Brisket.

We also enjoyed sides of Cole Slaw, Carrot Slaw, Pickled Red Onions, Cucumber Salad, Jalapeños, Potato Salad, and BBQ Black Beans, which are seen in just a few of the images.
