I went through a period of being very artistically interested in (read 'obsessed with') taking shots like this -- down in the shadowed reaches of the urban canyons, looking into puddles up at brightly-lit tall objects. I thought it made it look like I was peering through a rip in reality. Another instance of the same series is here.
The building reflected here is Randolph Tower, built in 1929 by Vitzhum and Burns (who are also the firm who did St. Peter's, aka the squashed . Christ . building.

These butterflies, eastern tiger swallowtails and pipevine swallowtails, were puddling on a pile of scat in Cataloochee Valley in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. (Butterflies are gross sometimes!) The area had just gotten the first soaking rain after several months with little to no rain, so the number of butterflies puddling in the valley was amazing. Note the carrion beetle lurking near the bottom center of the cluster.

Puddle is my new custom girl, she was previously a Casual Affair. I just love her blue mohair, it is lovely and soft :)

On the Pennine watershed and county border.......... It's downhill left and behind from here (east), through Yorkshire to the North Sea... and it's downhill right and forwards (west) through Lancashire to the Irish Sea.
The long period of showers and near freezing temperatures has produced a number of frozen puddles with concentric patterns like this as layer on layer of ice had formed then partly thawed.

It's raining today (December) but it's much too cold to play in the puddles...soon to be ice...I'd rather look at this picture, taken when our grands came to visit in July of 2009. They loved playing in the rain puddles. :)

Most of these are pictures of table dolls. if you see dolls on a long rectangular table, they were set up for a contest or group photo.
The children should probably fetch water, the clay jugs are still visible at the edge, but playing in the puddle is much more fun.
