There's never a shortage of puddles here on the west coast of Scotland :D
This particular puddle was on my patio, complete with a fallen field maple leaf. I took the photo while it was still raining, and despite trying to protect my camera by holding a plastic tub over it, it (and I) still got completely soaked!
All of our hikes have included tons of muddy sections this fall. We just can't seem to get away from puddles. We try to go around them as often as possible but there are times I just step right into the shallow ones. Instead of being annoyed at the excess mud and water, I embraced it by looking for interesting abstracts. This one appealed to me because all the ripples in the puddle gave it a rich texture around the leaves while the blue sky was reflected beautifully.

Made with GIMP. 2nd version, changed to colour.
Although this looks like a river, it is just a puddle. The empty spot where the reflection ends is a walkway. Then a blurry reflection continues in the actual river.
On the way in today as the snow began to turn to rain this puddle caught my eye...I loved how the very wet snow fell from the trees in to it creating new circles and patterns.
A beautiful softly coloured sunset sky tonight gave the clouds a lovely tinge and these were reflected in a puddle of water along the shoreline of the lake.

Puddle with some spilled oil, NYC. Reflection of buildings and church as the water was draining into a sewer grate.
I was unsure as to whether or not this was worth being edited but I enjoy the blue and yellow complementary colours reflecting in the puddle 😊
A resident swallow in the country often sighted in the countryside continuously gliding close to water bodies and around puddles on dirt roads. They are also the most common swallows to see at eye level, the others like the the Barn swallows and the Streak Throated Swallows are bit tough to get that level.
The birds often nest under road drains, bridges or culverts. They swoop wet mud from wet areas and then build their nest in a laborious process.
During my Himalayan trip , I found a small flock of these birds picking up mud next to a small hand pump in a muddy patch. They were making multiple trips in building their nests. I wondered where they are setting up their nests for a while and finally found the answer. The birds were laying nests in the roof corners of shops in the area. And the shopkeepers did not mind the nests and Swallows inside their nests much to my delight. The ceiling is only like 8 feet in most places (to keep the heat at ground level) and they don't use fans due to the cold.
