This is one of a set of images, taken in 2014-15, of buildings in Macclesfield which were once pubs, but are now derelict or adapted to other uses. Details of the earlier closures are based almost entirely on The Pubs and Breweries of Macclesfield by Paul Wreglesworth et al, 1981 and 1990; details of the more recent ones are based on my own memory, which may well be faulty. All the images are in my Photostream in the set Defunct Macc pubs.

This one was difficult to frame and I'm not too happy with the outcome. Still, I like the atmosphere.

The Pub is an authentic British pub like Jaws is an authentic shark.

 

Decent selection of imports, I must admit.

Located on the junction of Reddicap Heath Road and Springfield Road, the Anvil is a pub serving the residents of Falcon Lodge and Reddicap Heath near Sutton Coldfield. Mr D9 and I called in for a quick pint and a game of darts during our February 2013 North Birmingham outing.

An Ale crawl around the best pubs in Halifax in my opinion.

A striking octagonal drinking lobby forms the hub from which five distinctive rooms radiate in this Art Deco pub, built in 1932 by Webster's Brewery. Sensitively refurbished and maintained by Ossett Brewery
