Cosmo publishes online article about "This is What a Feminist Looks Like" meme, 'No Hope for the Human Race' responds
Part of a three-piece job for my friend/art director Nathan Adams.
This was/is supposed to illustrate the capabilities of a speaker device for one's iPod. I don't really own much in the way of electronic stuff ('cept for my mac) but feel as tho I should really have a an iPod.
This photograph was published in the Illustrated Chronicle on the 21st October 1916
During the Great War the Illustrated Chronicle published photographs of soldiers and sailors from Newcastle and the North East of England, which had been in the news. The photographs were sent in by relatives and give us a glimpse into the past.
The physical collection held by Newcastle Libraries comprises bound volumes of the newspaper from 1910 to 1925. We are keen to find out more about the people in the photographs. If you recognise anyone in the images and have any stories and information to add please comment below.

Lisa Hannigan
ca. 1942. This is a British book published by a woman who was concerned about nutrition with the added restrictions of wartime. It is mostly an educational book, but there are some recipes at the back. What I love about this book is that she felt the popular feeling of the time about sugar being an "energy food" was completely wrong and unhealthy.

Opening-act dei Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, il 15 Aprile 2019 fanno tappa per un concerto sold-out all’Alcatraz di Milano, Rovere.
I rovere nascono a Bologna nel 2016 da un’idea di Nelson Venceslai, Luca Lambertini e Lorenzo Stivani. I primi due singoli la pioggia che non sapevo e caccia militare, senza usare nessuna maiuscola, entrano immediatamente in Top 50 viral di Spotify e superano in pochi mesi i 2.000.000 di ascolti. La band inaugura il tour esibendosi nei migliori festival italiani (di cui è da segnalare l’Home Festival di Treviso), e registrando il sold out in club storici come il Covo Club e il Rock’n’Roll.
Nei mesi successivi la band lavora all’album di debutto frutto anche della collaborazione con Riccardo Zanotti dei Pinguini tattici Nucleari. Senza concentrarsi su un genere musicale predefinito, la band ha unito i propri gusti e le proprie predisposizioni, trasportando il suono da una parte all’altra dando vita al primo album della band bolognese.
Il primo singolo, tadb, ha raggiunto 120.000 plays su Spotify nel primo weekend fuori e i rovere sono pronti a condividerne anche il video ufficiale, in uscita il 13 marzo. Realizzato da SlimDogs Production insieme alla band, il video nasce con l’intenzione di trasmettere visivamente le sensazioni contenute nel testo della canzone e il mood del brano.

Uno spettacolo incredibile quello dei BowLand. Un pianeta tutto da scoprire. Nato a Firenze da tre amici cresciuti a Teheran guardando alle influenze occidentali sono ospiti del Festival di Villa Arconati 2019 il 9 Luglio.
BowLand è un progetto musicale nato nel 2015 a Firenze da tre amici di liceo, Lei Low, Pejman e Saeed, conosciutisi a Teheran e successivamente, in momenti diversi, trasferitisi a Firenze per studiare. La loro proposta musicale affonda la sue radici in quel filone della musica elettronica dove trovano spazio atmosfere fluttuanti, ma anche fonti sonore inusuali, arricchite da una presenza vocale eterea e da una base strumentale ricca di groove. Nel 2017 è uscito il loro primo album, “Floating Trip”, mentre nel 2018 hanno rapito il pubblico televisivo arrivando fino alla finale di “X Factor” Italia grazie a una voce femminile suadente immersa in sonorità trip hop tra Portishead, Moloko, Archive. A dicembre hanno pubblicato l’ep “Bubble Of Dreams”, con il nuovo singolo “Don’t Stop Me”.
Hanno uno stile ben preciso e, nel momento in cui iniziano a proporre la loro musica, sono in grado di generare un’atmosfera particolare, che fa venire i brividi. È qualcosa di nuovo, diverso, da non farsi scappare. Il problema più grande dei talent show sono i partecipanti che si ostinano a rincorrere lo stile altrui.
