ANOTHER KIND OF SLIP ROAD: Crews try to reduce the ice cover on Highway 23 near Deerwood. Many highways in southern Manitoba were listed Tuesday morning as having slippery sections or otherwise poor driving conditions.

As I said before, I’ve been playing around with a new lens. Getting really close to the animals in the zoo is a snap now. Trying to catch them on photo is a whole lot more complicated though. This little fellow for instance, together with a couple of others in its cage, hardly sat still for even the slightest moment. It took me a few tries to catch it. The wait was worth it, I think
This photograph was published in the Illustrated Chronicle on the 31st of May 1917.
During the Great War the Illustrated Chronicle published photographs of soldiers and sailors from Newcastle and the North East of England, which had been in the news. The photographs were sent in by relatives and give us a glimpse into the past.
The physical collection held by Newcastle Libraries comprises bound volumes of the newspaper from 1910 to 1925. We are keen to find out more about the people in the photographs. If you recognize anyone in the images and have any stories and information to add please comment below.

G-Eazy porta in Italia il suo The Beautiful & Damned Tour dopo la pubblicazione dell’ultimo disco “The Beautiful & Damned” lo scorso dicembre.
Il suo album di debutto con una Major, These Things Happen, è stato pubblicato nel 2014 e ha raggiunto la posizione 3 della US Billboard 200. Il suo secondo album, When It's Dark Out, è stato pubblicato il 4 dicembre 2015.
È in radio da venerdì 26 gennaio l’ultimo singolo “Him & I” insieme alla cantautrice americana Halsey.
“The Beautiful and Damned”, che include 20 tracce estremamente personali, è uscito insieme a un corto in esclusiva per Apple Music in cui l’artista approfondisce le tematiche raccontate nel disco. Gerald Earl Gillum, questo il vero nome del rapper, si racconta in modo inedito e molto realistico, come mai prima d’ora. La storia inizia quando Gerald riscontrando delle limitazioni nella sua vita personale crea il personaggio di G-Eazy così da riuscire a superarle, vivendo come desiderava e diventando la rockstar che voleva essere. Con l’ascesa della star emergono anche i problemi: il suo “alter ego” G-Eazy cade in un costante cliché oscuro che lo porta a vivere vizi e dipendenze. Rifacendosi al romanzo di F.Scott Fitzgerald dallo stesso titolo, “The Beautiful and Damned” mostra come Gerald riesca a ripulire gli eccessi di G-Eazy con un duro lavoro quotidiano.
