I was asked a few months ago if I would like to be featured in 'What Digital Camera' magazine. I was really pleased to have the opportunity to have my work published so agreed. It was in the October edition but only found out a couple of weeks ago that I had been featured for that particular month. Anyway it looks good and was really pleased with how they looked.

During the Great War the Illustrated Chronicle published photographs of soldiers and sailors from Newcastle and the North East of England, which had been in the news. The photographs were sent in by relatives and give us a glimpse into the past.
The physical collection held by Newcastle Libraries comprises bound volumes of the newspaper from 1910 to 1925. We are keen to find out more about the people in the photographs. If you recognize anyone in the images and have any stories and information to add please comment below.

Ennio Morricone porta in Italia la tournée ‘The 60 Years of Music World Tour’ il 2 dicembre al Mediolanum Forum di Milano.
Ennio Morricone dirigerà le sue musiche per il cinema. Le date fanno parte della tournée The 60 Years of Music World Tour e prevedono l’esibizione della leggenda del fado portoghese, Dulce Pontes. I precedenti concerti della tournèe hanno registrato il tutto esaurito ovunque in Europa con standing ovation da parte del pubblico e recensioni magnifiche da parte della critica.
L’anno passato il maestro Morricone è stato insignito di numerosi premi e riconoscimenti per le musiche dell’ultimo film di Quentin Tarantino, The Hateful Eight tra cui ricordiamo il Golden Globe per ‘La migliore colonna sonora originale’, il BAFTA per ‘Le musiche Originali’, il premio della New York Film Critics Association per ‘La migliore colonna sonora’ e l’Oscar nella categoria ‘Colonna sonora originale.’
Nel corso della sua carriera, Ennio Morricone ha composto più di 500 colonne sonore per il cinema e la televisione e più di 100 composizioni di musica assoluta. Tra le sue opere più conosciute ricordiamo le musiche per il film C’era una volta il West, C’era una volta in America, Per un pugno di dollari, The Untouchables e Mission. Le musiche di Ennio Morricone per il film Il buono, il brutto e il cattivo occupano la seconda posizione in una classifica delle 200 migliori colonne sonore per il cinema della storia.
I concerti in Italia fanno parte di una tournée mondiale, che segna il sessantesimo anniversario come compositore e direttore d’orchestra e seguono una serie di date europee che hanno portato il maestro a esibirsi davanti a circa 400.000 persone in 30 diverse città europee.
Parlando della tournée attualmente in corso, Ennio Morricone ha dichiarato di recente: “Dirigere dal vivo le mie composizioni in tante città diverse, davanti ad un pubblico così vario per età e background culturale, è un’esperienza estremamente gratificante. Quest’anno festeggio i 60 anni di carriera da compositore durante i quali ho composto più di 600 opere”.
“Per questa tournée ho pensato a un programma aggiornato che naturalmente comprende alcuni “grandi classici” come le musiche degli amati western di Sergio Leone e Mission, ma a parte questo nella sua totalità il concerto sarà un’esperienza molto differente rispetto ai concerti del passato. Prevedo di inserire nel programma le musiche composte per Quentin Tarantino e alcuni brani composti per i western di Sergio Leone che non ho mai diretto nelle tournée precedenti. Inoltre, avrò accanto a me sul palco la cantante portoghese Dulce Pontes, espressione di una vocalità appassionata e passionale.
