Bangkok is a city which is a true amalgamation of the old and the new, the past and the present. The city has some of the most fantastic cultural and historic architecture but at the same time it is home to really tall sky scrapers.
I was in Bangkok (alone) for a week last year and I was really happy to go click-crazy. I must've easily walked 10 km each day exploring different parts of Bankok, the old, the crazy and the most peaceful.
I got this blue hour shot of the Bangkok skyline from the very quite Lumphini Park and I've been wanting to upload this revised version for a long time. Today, I finally got time to work on this image and here is the final result. Hope you guys like it.

About Lumphini Park
Lumphini Park is a 360-rai (57.6-hectare (142-acre)) park in Bangkok, Thailand. This park offers rare open public space, trees and playgrounds in the Thai capital and contains an artificial lake where visitors can rent a variety of boats. Paths around the park totalling approximately 2.5 km in length are a popular area for evening joggers. Officially, cycling is only permitted during the day between the times of 5am to 3pm. There is a smoking ban throughout the park, and dogs are not allowed.
About Bangkok
Bangkok is the capital, largest urban area and primary city of Thailand. Known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon , meaning "city of angels" for short, it was originally a small trading post on the west bank of the lower Chao Phraya River during the Ayutthaya Kingdom. It became the capital in 1768 after the destruction of Ayutthaya by Burmese invaders. However, the current Rattanakosin Kingdom did not begin until 1782, when the capital was moved to the east bank of the river by Rama I following the death of King Taksin. The city is more formally called "Phra Nakhon" referring to the original boundaries of the 18th century, while the name Krungthep Mahanakorn includes the urban areas which have since grown. Foreigners generally call the city by its original name of Bangkok.

Took my little helper (Vicky my wife) up to Hope Mountain to play with some light painting. It was -5 degrees at the top and everywhere was white with ice. Hence why my wife is wrapped up to her teeth in thick winter clothing, she really didn't want to be there :p
Annoyingly, I didn't quite get the focusing right! Slightly blurry, but still cool! (literally!)

There is small overlook along the trail at the very beginning of the Archery Field Area. I sat down on the stone wall and loaded a fresh roll of film in the OM-2. This was the first shot on the roll.
Friday, June 3 I hiked the Letchworth State Park trail 1 along the west side of the Genesee River gorge end-to-end with a loop back. It was a beautiful day for hiking - a few clouds and high about 75F. I took lots of photographs with the Olympus OM2 and Ilford HP5. Gaia GPS said 15.1 miles for the entire trip, which makes me think trail 1 is longer than the published 7 miles.

Early morning showers and heavy cloud give way to some rare afternoon sunshine during the monsoon season at Baeknokdam crater on Halla Mountain. The weather was poor as I made my way along the Seongpanak Trail up to the summit. But, as I neared the top, the sky cleared, beautiful clouds rising up from around the crater. When this man sat down on the rocks in front of me to take in the wonderful view, it completed the scene for me.
Mt. Halla, Jeju, South Korea
Hallasan is a shield volcano on Jeju Island, South Korea. Hallasan is the highest mountain of South Korea. The area around the mountain is a designated national park, the Hallasan National Park (Hallasan Gungnip Gongwon/한라산국립공원/漢拏山國立公園). Hallasan is commonly considered to be one of the three main mountains of South Korea, with Jirisan and Seoraksan being the other two.
Hallasan is a massive shield volcano which forms the bulk of Jeju Island and is often taken as representing the island itself. There is a local saying stating that "Jeju Island is Hallasan; and Hallasan is Jeju." The mountain can indeed be seen from all places on the island, but its peak is often covered in clouds. The mountain has been designated Korea's Natural Monument no. 182.
The volcanic island was constructed starting in the Pliocene epoch atop the continental shelf, which is presently about 100 m (300 ft) below sea level in that area. Eruptions of basalt and trachyte lava built the island above sea level, and it now reaches a height of 1,950 metres (6,398 ft). A large volcanic crater over 400 m (1,300 ft) in diameter tops the volcano. About 360 parasitic cones, or oreum (오름) in the Jeju dialect, are found on the volcano's flanks. Most of them are cinder cones and scoria cones, but there are also some lava domes and about 20 tuff rings near the coast and offshore, which were formed by underwater phreatic eruptions. The most recent eruptions occurred on the flanks in 1002 and 1007.
There is a crater lake on Hallasan called Baengnokdam (백록담/白鹿潭), literally "white deer lake." There is a legend attributing the name of the lake to otherworldly men who descend from heaven to play with white deer. Depending on the season, the circumference of the lake is up to 2 kilometres with a depth up to about 100 meters.

In 1771 the French astronomer Charles Messier published a catalogue listing 110 nebulae and star clusters. He did this to help comet hunters discern between fuzzy blobs in the sky that were new comets, or already-discovered deep sky objects. Messier listed each object with the letter “M” (for Messier, of course) and a catalogue number. Unknown to Messier at the time was the fact that some of these “nebulae” were discreet galaxies like our Milky Way, located millions of light-years from us on Earth. My photo brings you three of these Messier objects, M31, M33 and M110. Apart from their dry catalogue names, two of these galaxies have the common names of the “Andromeda Galaxy” (M31) and the “Triangulum Galaxy” (M33).
I captured this photo without the use of a telescope or telephoto lens. I shot nine pictures of the foreground and sky, plus twelve “dark” frames, which were combined in software to reduce the amount of digital noise present. For all of the twenty-one images, I used the same equipment and settings. These were my Canon EOS 6D Mk II camera, a Yongnuo 50mm f/1.4 lens @ f/2.0, using an exposure time of 6.0 seconds @ ISO 12800.

I entered the original image into a competition which I unfortunately didn't win but one of the judges was the editor of www.goodlightmag.com and contacted me asking if they could use it.
(Ambystoma tigrinum). East Texas.
Consult most published range maps for A. tigrinum and you will be convinced that they occur throughout eastern Texas. In truth, it is probably one of our rarest terrestrial salamanders. Determining the true range of this species in the Southeast is a bit tricky, as the popularity of the larvae for fishing bait has led to their release in areas where they previously would not have occurred.
There are, however, several records that I believe are of true, native populations. These primarily occur in a band of sandhills and savannahs at the confluence of the Pineywoods and Post Oak Savannah toward the western edge of what is traditionally considered as East Texas.
A couple of years ago some friends discovered this population in a series of fishless upland ponds in a sandy post oak savannah. I believe this to be a true native population, as it is located in extremely high quality habitat in a remote area that is isolated from any suitable fishing grounds. The habitat is similar to other areas where the species has been vouchered and determined by very knowledgeable herpetologists to be native.
If tiger salamander populations were really spread across large portions of Texas as fishing bait, I would suspect that a large portion of the animals in East Texas would be Ambystoma mavortium, as this species is very common in the central and western portions of the state, and I believe they would be easier to obtain and transport to this area than A. tigrinum. A. mavortium also displays a high degree of neoteny, and aquatic individuals would be easier to obtain than the larvae of A. tigrinum which are not neotenic in Texas or surrounding states. The animals from this population and other populations in this region of East Texas are clearly A. tigrinum.
In East Texas A. tigrinum are late fall and early winter breeders. This individual was found in a breeding pond following a significant rain event.

To look at these little beauties, you wouldn't think that you could whip up a batch in less than an hour. Chouquettes (pronounced shoo-kets) are French pastry sugar puffs and can also be made into profiteroles (French cream puffs) if you're feeling fancy.

It's that magic pâte à choux dough recipe again, the very same one used to make savory Gougères. But instead of Gruyère cheese and black pepper, you'll add a little sugar to the dough and a generous sprinkle of pearl sugar to the top.

How to Make Chouquettes
Making the chouquette dough is simple. (Also called choux pastry - the same dough used by patisseries in France to make eclairs, profiteroles, gougeres, and more.) You'll bring most of the recipe ingredients to a boil then add the flour all at once and stir like crazy until it's smooth and pulls away from the sides of the pan. After the dough cools for a few minutes, you'll whisk in the eggs one by one.

I take a rustic approach to forming these, scooping them out in heaps with a small cookie scoop or a couple of teaspoons, but you can certainly pipe them from a pastry bag onto the baking sheet if you want more uniform puffs. A thin sugar glaze (genius tip from Clotilde's Edible Adventures in Paris - first pair of photos below) and pearl sugar sprinkle promise a sweet crackle in every bite.

Chouquettes bake into golden brown little pastries that are crisp on the outside, and hollow, creamy and tender within (before removing from oven, turn off the oven, open it a crack and leave for 5 minutes to ensure that they don't deflate). They're wonderful snacks or party fare and a perfect edible gift. Wrap them up in a little paper sack as they do in Paris boulangeries.

INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 400ºF.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Heat water, sugar, salt, and butter in a medium saucepan until boiling. Remove from heat and add flour all at once, stirring vigorously with a wooden spoon, until dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
Let dough cool for 2 minutes then whisk in eggs, one at a time, until shiny and smooth. Set aside. (recipe note #1)
To make sugar glaze, combine water and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat; cook and stir until sugar dissolves, about one minute. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
Scoop dough onto baking sheet with small cookie scoop (a leveled 1 tablespoon scoop is ideal). Or, scoop a walnut-size mound of dough with a teaspoon and, with a second teaspoon, scrape onto prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough, spacing the dough mounds evenly apart, giving them a little room to spread. (Or pipe dough onto baking sheet with a ½-inch round tip.)
Brush dough mounds with sugar syrup then sprinkle generously with pearl sugar. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Turn oven off and crack the door open for 5 minutes before removing them (this should prevent the chouquettes from deflating). (recipe note #2) Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
NOTES
Don't be alarmed when the dough is lumpy as you add the eggs. Keep whisking (or stirring) vigorously and the dough will become smooth.
For chouquettes that are more crispy, pierce with a sharp knife immediately after removing from the oven to allow steam to escape.
Be sure to use Swedish pearl sugar as the Belgian variety is much larger and won't stick well.
To serve these as profiteroles, just slice in half crosswise and fill with custard, whipped cream, pastry cream, or ice cream and drizzle with chocolate sauce if you like.
If you won't be eating all of these the same day you cook them, they freeze beautifully. Let cool, then transfer to freezer bag for up to one month. Two great options for reheating:
To reheat straight from the freezer: preheat oven to 350ºF then turn oven off. Arrange frozen chouquettes on ungreased baking sheet and, after you turn oven off, place in oven for 5 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
For a crispier version: Thaw at room temperature. Preheat oven to 350˚F. Arrange thawed chouquettes on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

Sunset at Long Jetty. Although there was little cloud, the muted pastel colours were quite striking.

SIMPLIFIED RECIPE:
Ingredients:
Spaghettini enough for 2 servings
8 button mushroom, sliced
3 rashers of back bacon, cut into small slices
1 bunch of flat-leaf parsley, chopped coarsely
5 dried chili - cut into smaller pieces
5 cloves of garlic, crushed and chopped
3 tablespoon of olive oil
Sea salt and ground black pepper
1/2 tbsp of grated parmesan cheese
water for boiling pasta
1/3 cup of water for sauce
Procedure:
1. Boil the spaghettini until al dente following instructions on box/packet.
2. While boiling, heat up olive oil and fry the bacon till golden, dish aside.
3. Put in the garlic, chili and fry for one minute before putting in the mushroom. Add parsley and 1/3 cup of water.
4. Season with sea salt and ground black pepper
5. Put in the pasta and stir evenly, add parmesan cheese and mix till melted.
6. Dish out and serve hot with the bacon strips sprinkled on top.

This farmer near St. Claude was blowing the snow out the back of the machine December 6th while harvesting corn.
Cassandra Cain is a fictional superheroine appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with the superhero Batman. Created by Kelley Puckett and Damion Scott, Cassandra Cain first appeared in Batman #567 (July 1999). The character is one of several who have assumed the role of Batgirl. Over the years, she has also assumed the names of Black Bat and Orphan.
Cassandra's origin story presents her as the daughter of assassins David Cain and Lady Shiva. She was deprived of speech and human contact during her childhood as conditioning to become the world's greatest assassin.
Consequently, Cassandra grew up to become an expert martial artist and developed an incredible ability to interpret body language to the point of reading complex thoughts, while simultaneously developing limited social skills and remaining mute and illiterate.
Cassandra was the first Batgirl to star in her own ongoing Batgirl comic book series. She was replaced as Batgirl by Stephanie Brown in a 2009 storyline. She returned in late 2010, where she was shown working as an anonymous agent of Batman in Hong Kong before adopting the new moniker of Black Bat.
The character was brought back to mainstream continuity after the company-wide reboot in Batman & Robin Eternal, using the code name Orphan, previously used by her father, David Cain. The character's full history was restored in DC's 2021 Infinite Frontier relaunch.
Fictional character biography
Early history
Cassandra's birth and childhood are revealed in the Batgirl series. While seeking a perfect bodyguard for Ra's al Ghul, David Cain finds a potential mother when he sees Sandra Wu-San fighting her sister Carolyn in a martial arts tournament.
Believing that Sandra is holding back for Carolyn, Cain lures Sandra into a trap, sparing her life. David and Sandra have a child, and Sandra leaves the child for David to raise, setting out to become Lady Shiva.
Cain trains Cassandra from birth to be an assassin. She is not taught to read or write; instead, reading body language is her only language. She is able to read people's movements and predict what they are going to do.
When she is eight, Cain takes her to kill a businessman. As the man dies, Cassandra reads what he is feeling, realizes what she did, and runs away from her father.
After that, her activities are a mystery, until she first appears during the "No Man's Land" story arc.
No Man's Land
During the "No Man's Land" storyline, after Gotham is leveled by an earthquake and isolated, Cassandra Cain saves Commissioner Gordon's life and gains Bruce Wayne's approval, and, eventually, becomes the new Batgirl.
Her father, David Cain, sends a video of Cassandra's first murder to Bruce Wayne (Batman) attempting to disrupt her status. However, Wayne continues to accept Cassandra after she takes several bullets to save the life of a hired assassin, proving her devotion to protecting human life.
Batgirl
Bruce Wayne sends Cassandra to Barbara Gordon, currently functioning as Oracle. Barbara says she prefers to live alone but since Cassandra is never home and doesn't talk, it is just like living alone.
A telepath "rewires" Cassandra's brain so that she can think with words and use language, but these abilities come at some cost to her ability to read people's body language.
As she had relied completely on this ability to fight, she is unable to effectively fight crime. Worried, Bruce Wayne takes away her costume and begins training her in defensive skills.
Cassandra soon discovers that the assassin Lady Shiva can read people like she used to be able to and asks Shiva to reteach her.
Lady Shiva accepts on the condition that they would have a duel to the death a year later. As Cassandra would rather be "perfect for a year" instead of "mediocre for a lifetime", she accepts the offer.
When the women fight in a year's time, Cassandra dies within minutes. Realizing Cassandra had a death wish, Shiva then restarts her heart, so that they can have a real fight. In the subsequent fight, Cassandra beats Shiva but does not kill her.
Though not known for her private life, Cassandra does have a one-time romance with Conner Kent after meeting him on a cruise ship. He shares her first kiss, and she even visits him at his home in Smallville, though the relationship never becomes serious.
Cassandra then helps Batman control the violence of a gang war in Gotham City.
Later, Batgirl moves to Blüdhaven with Tim Drake (the third Robin) at Batman's suggestion and with his financial support.
There, Deathstroke takes on a contract from the Penguin to kill Batgirl and decides to let his daughter, Rose (the current Ravager), do the job instead. Cassandra beats Rose by playing on her emotions to leave her open for a critical strike, giving Deathstroke no choice but to get her medical attention.
During this time, Cassandra starts developing a friendship with Brenda, the woman who owns the local coffee shop, and even a very short-lived relationship with a boy named Zero. Unfortunately, her friends are all killed in the Blüdhaven disaster.
Cassandra also goes undercover for Batman, as Kasumi, in the Justice League Elite, working under Sister Superior to track and eliminate metahuman threats to the population.
She works with the Batman's old fellow Justice League members Green Arrow and the Flash, and forms a bond with Coldcast, who is the first Leaguer to whom she reveals her identity.
Although he is subsequently accused of murder, she and the rest of the team soon realize that he has been manipulated by renegade Elite member Menagerie, who was himself being manipulated by the spirit of Manchester Black as he tried to drive his sister to destroy London.
As the JLA falls, the Elite, united by the spirit of the deceased Manitou Raven, free Vera and vanquish Black, although the team disbands after this last mission.
Cassandra gathers evidence that indicates that Shiva could be her mother, and seeks her out to confirm this, rejoining the League of Assassins. After she is proclaimed by Nyssa al Ghul as the "One Who Is All", the students of the League are split, half following Shiva, and the others Cassandra.
In the following confrontation, Cassandra is mortally wounded by her "adoptive brother", the Mad Dog, while heroically saving one of the students under her leadership. Shiva revives Cassandra in a Lazarus Pit, then answers Cassandra's questions about her parentage.
When Cassandra asked Shiva whether she was still killing, whether she would ever stop, Shiva says she was, and responds, "It's why I had you", so Cassandra agrees to fight her to the death once more.
After a closely matched battle, Cassandra manages to break Shiva's neck, paralyzing her. She appears ready to place Shiva in the Lazarus Pit, but Shiva pleads with her not to do so. Instead, Cassandra impales Shiva on a hook hanging over the pit, apparently killing her. Cassandra then abandons the identity of Batgirl and returns to her life as a wanderer.

Found this guy in his huge colony of a fallen tree deep into the woods. was interesting to watch them and break bits of the wood off to see into the colony. I also found a queen that looked so huge and different that I mistook it as a different speices
