I sold the 2015 Junior G-Man prototype to someone and he returned it, citing this split in the finish at the neck joint.
Alright, even though I don't have a macro lens anymore, I've tried to show this as well as I can. Hopefully along the back of the neck you can make out the glue line. See how the finish doesn't seem to want to stick to that? You can clearly see the white line where it was glued. Then on the side you can see the, "separation" where it looks split, but (and with a macro lens I could get closer to this) it looks to me like the glue line underneath is intact. It's just the finish not sticking to the glue very well, IMO.
Now, to be honest, the manufacturer tried to wave me away from tung oil a couple of times because he said the coverage wasn't as reliable as poly. Which I expected. I wasn't opting into it for durability. I was opting into it because it's thin and allows the instrument to resonate, while maintaining the appearance of a, "finished" instrument.
So I guess these are the tradeoffs we make.
Here's the first full photos of Rotund's Mk1 Prototype! Rocking the black and standing 3.5" high!
Exciting! :D
Prototype is here, and I love him! It's great to finally see him in resin.
Puck is a doll sculpted by me with Ladoll Clay and now cast in NS environmental resin. He is 57cm large.
This guy will be for sale soon. If you're interested, or have questions, please visit me at freakstylebjd.deviantart.com!

I gutted out an old webcam and attached it to half of a pill bottle to create this prototype astrocam. It fits where the eyepiece would normally go on my telescope.
