The kit that came with the Garmin Zümo 550 got in the way of my new tank bag, so my dad and I prototyped a modification that puts the GPS unit further forward, leaving enough room to fully turn the handle bar. The "mod" is the silver metal plate, which lifts the GPS unit and turns it 180 degrees. Simple but it works splendidly. Next version will be painted and without screws sticking out in the back! :-)
Early on in the project I assembled some vehicles at random using a Quentin WIlson's classic car book as a guide. These models took an hour or two each to put together and then perhaps another hour to scan and create textures.
The quick models are submitted and given the thumbs up or down. Sadly these three were heartily disapproved of. They wanted something more generic.
I lucked into a 2011 official pullip calender, there appear to be some new prototypes in it...
Not sure if these guys are redressed releases or new prototypes I don't immediately recognize them though that could be Sage on the left there.
PS. If you gank the picture please link back here!
Prototype boot for my father. He lives on the other side of the country, so I'll send him these to test the fit before making them in leather.

wedding crafting. It has begun.
I think this is a decent prototype. Things that will change:
- the ribbon color. I want a paler yellow and preferably something with stripes
- the construction -- the "flower" will be on a pin-back so that it can be worn when its job as a "napkin ring" is over
- the button will be more interesting
Concerns:
- I *love* this fabric. But the little birds are getting lost.
- The edges fray. This could be solved by a) using pinking shears, but MAN that would up the time it takes to cut them (to rotary cutter for that one edge -- unless there is a rotary pinking shear...); or b) by hemming (see above).
- I'm a little teensy bit worried that it's too twee. The rest of the table is white. White on white. In fact, the whole wedding is basically white or beige, just because that's what color the space is and it's really beautiful that way. We like things minimal, but I wanted a pop of color... too much?
Anyone know of any beautiful tealy blue fabrics with small prints? Something that could be used in a 1" strip and not get lost.
And I apologize in advance. It's gonna be all wedding for a while around here...
mold blown prototypes for a continuation of the vertical theory glass series (completed at the penland school of crafts in late summer 2011).
This was a prototype on a Sheridan tank chassis. They only made a few of these before the military went to the Bradley Fighting Vehicle as there main light tank.
Most of the sloppy looking parts are hand made using epoxy resin and then later on im going to mold them for the finish work. Not as good as the other ODST helmets ive seen on flickr, but at least i dared to create my own.
