I turned up to support the bob Brown Save the Koalas and Forests campaign and found they were out numbered!
On Saturday November 4 thousands of people joined an emergency protest and marched through the streets of Melbourne in solidarity with refugees on Manus Island. The protest ended with an occupation of the Flinders Street Station intersection in the middle of the city.
I took two Swedish tourists along with me to the celebration for the 29th anniversary of the revolution. The Swedes had come to Iran to ski for a week and were only in the city for just over 24 hours, for which I suggested this among other things and they were more than happy to join.
I was a little nervous about the blond hair causing us problems but oddly enough I seemed to get clocked more often with, "hey look! Foreigners!".
The nearest three tube stations were closed off and thus we had a long journey to the Azadi tower.
At a guess there must have been just under 2-million people out that day in Tehran alone. Across the country, I might hazard a further guess of over 5-million - maybe more.
I only heard "Death to England" once and was pleased that England was still among the chants. Mostly it was directed towards Israel.
The president did about a 1-hour and 20-minute speech that we heard all the way from the tube to the tower. As we arrived he was rounding up.
I was unable to translate much to my guests as the Farsi was very 'bookish'. It was the usual mix of the Zionist regime causing problems for our Muslim brothers in Palatine. There was the usual stuff about America and some odd things mentioned about the national economic plans.
The Swedes really enjoyed the day and got many photos and films of the moment. It was a nice contrast from the uptown activity that filled the rest of their visit I think.

Protest the Hero is a Canadian progressive metal band from Whitby, Ontario.[3] Originally named Happy Go Lucky,[4] the band changed their name to Protest the Hero shortly before releasing their debut EP, Search for the Truth, in 2002. In 2005, the band released their first full-length album Kezia on the indie label Underground Operations.
On January 23, 2006, the band signed with Vagrant Records for Kezia's American release on April 4, 2006. Their second full-length album, Fortress was released by Underground Operations in Canada and by Vagrant Records worldwide on January 29, 2008.[5] The band released their third studio album, Scurrilous, on March 22, 2011.
Expressing frustrations with record labels, in January of 2013 the band announced that they would crowdfund their fourth full-length album.[6] The Indiegogo campaign was a runaway success, and the independently-released Volition debuted on October 29, 2013, distributed with the help of Razor & Tie.
We refused to leave the street and go home until our demand of capital punishment for war criminals are met. Took this photograph on yesterday evening, February 06, 2013, when thousands joined at Shahbag intersection in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It turned into a spontaneous mass protest with thousands of people continuing their sit-in programme to demand capital punishment for Jamaat-e-Islami politician Abdul Quader Molla and other war criminals. University teachers and students, journalists, cultural and political activists, particularly the young generation, gathered at the intersection. We claimed capital punishment for Abdul Quader Molla for he has been found guilty of five out of six charges, including a series of killings including some large-scale massacres in the Mirpur area of Dhaka during the country’s Liberation War in 1971. The given verdict has humiliated the whole nation and disappointed people seeking justice for the mass murder and rape by the collaborators, and also belittled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and intellectuals. The fiery protest is now spread throughout the nation, thousands of people in different districts are on streets demanding justice for war crime.

“The lead-up to Saturday’s protests against the TPPA shows the commitment of people across the country to send a message that the government can’t ignore”, said ItsOurFuture spokesperson Edward Miller.
A video shows young activists publicising Saturday’s nationwide protests with footage from Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Nelson.
Action in the 22 centres starts at 10am in Raglan and many of the larger centre marches begin at 1pm, including Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
“People have been incredibly creative”, Miller said. “In Christchurch a giant plain-packaged cigarette packet will be marching in the crowd, while Auckland will be led by an enormous Trojan Horse, locked in a tug-of-war between major commercial interests and activist communities.”
“Around the country everyday kiwis will be photographed for a virtual campaign with signs saying ‘I am a ___________ and I say #TPPANoDeal.’ Already this campaign has been very popular.”
“Trade minister Tim Groser needs to recognise that people don’t buy the ‘trust me’ line. They want to be listened to when they say they don’t want the TPPA. And they deserve to be listened to.”

About 1000 protesters marched through the centre of Greece's second largest city angered by massive price hikes in basics such as public transport, power and road tolls. Even though incomes are dropping inflation has tripled over the last 12 months.

From the recent protest regarding access to abortion on 1 December 2021 in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. (This was the morning the court took up the case to effectively end access to abortion.)
The election for a seat on the North Carolina Supreme Court was very close, but was won by Allison Riggs by a margin of about 800 votes. After the announcement, challenger Jefferson Griffin and his legal team disputed over 60,000 votes claiming administrative errors. It’s become a flashpoint in the state that is still smoldering. The election was in early November and the issue is still not resolved. Many of the protesters in these pictures were notified of administrative issues with their votes. A hyphen in a voter’s last name was a common “administrative issue” that caused a vote to be cancelled. The recount of votes without the 60,000 votes will certainly put Jefferson Griffon on the bench of the NC Supreme Court.
