Old, abandoned houses excite me, and depress me. I can't help but think of the promise with which someone started out, only to leave it at some later date. So, I penned, "The Promise". Not great literature, I know, but it expresses my feelings at this house, south of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.

We stood and gazed into the sky

Our futures bold, our song can’t die

I held your hand, and we did fly

Across that promise in the sky

And then one day, I looked into

The eyes I thought that I once knew

My love, my heart, where have you gone?

Where is that promise, where’s our song?
