"They tried to break the best of us, but still our hearts are true to promises kept." -Champion

Sometimes it's not the things you say,
but rather the things you do,
These things i wouldn't have any other way,
Because they're something especially from you,
This promise is something we both intend to keep,
And no matter how hard it gets,
We will always feel this feeling so deep,
I hold you forever close to my heart,
These rings are our promise that we'll never part.
rings, and what they are leaning on , which is actually a jewel incrusted penguin. Both baught and given to me by my darling David.

At this time of year we all make resolutions with every intention of keeping to them. Inevitably there are some which fall by the wayside, sometimes for good reasons.
As with everything in life, it is sensible to set ourselves realistic targets that we know we can achieve.
For example, I could say that I will give up smoking because that would be the smart thing to do but I know that promise won’t last, so I am not going to make it.
I suppose the best plan of action really is not to make any resolutions at all, that way nobody will be disappointed and any life changes that are achieved will appear as a bonus.
You can therefore ignore anything that is legible in this picture!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL..... one thing I will promise is that there will be another picture tomorrow.
ok this is it for a while, folks. we're leaving for vacation very early tomorrow morning, but i'm saying farewell to flickr tonight so i can pack and get ready for two weeks in maine -- wooot! we'll be in portland for a week with old friends, then a pitstop at llbean, then a week just with the hubs in a cottage on the coast, with some books, some wine and the ocean.
so i'll leave you with some lines on the asphalt and some lines from the boss:
hey what else can we do now
except roll down the window
and let the wind blow back your hair
well the night's busting open
these two lanes will take us anywhere
we got one last chance to make it real
to trade in these wings on some wheels
climb in back
heaven's waiting on down the tracks
oh oh come take my hand
riding out tonight to case the promised land
oh oh thunder road, oh thunder road
oh thunder road
lying out there like a killer in the sun
hey i know it's late we can make it if we run
oh thunder road, sit tight take hold
thunder road
wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Sometimes we goof around and put on our pre-engagement rings (which we usually wear on necklaces) while we're out and about.
We originally picked out the promise rings to wear during the long distance period of our relationship, but we still wear them every day even now we're no longer apart. They both read, "Fear Not", which we thought was extremely appropriate.

τι ένοιωσα για σένα ;
[a promise from both to be side by side for as long as it can be]
So many given, but lightly I suspect...
Yet through Winter's storms and
challenges,
There you are,
just as you promised...

My Promise of the World order came in! Spent the last two hours dressing her up in all her new clothes, and taking some pictures. Some things are a little iffy on the fit, but most are okay.
Well, things were looking good for my little Japanese Magnolia tree until last night. With the temps now in the upper 20's, I'm wondering if it will continue to bloom, or if they will just drop off. I don't even want to think about the Azaleas...}=/
Stay warm everyone, and have a great Sunday!

and you, want to prove it?"..

I came here on a field trip in fifth grade with my dad as a chaperone and they wouldn't let school tours go upstairs and I was so upset. My dad told me "Don't worry Mel, one day we'll come back, just us, and I'll take you upstairs. I promise"
He kept his promise.
When we traverse the journey of life we make promises and we move on. Every now and then we must look back and see if we have left someone behind with a broken heart, an unfulfilled promise. For they might still be hoping you remember the look in their eyes when they said promise me…
I promised that I would revisit and photograph Mill Street House.
MARCH 27 2017 - I visited the Newmarket area of Dublin last week and much to my surprise when I got to Mill Street and I discovered that Mill Street House had been restored. Of course, here in Dublin, one never really knows what ‘restored’ actually means. What I have done is include some before and some after photographs so that you may decide if you are happy with the results.

THIS IS WHAT I SAID BACK IN MAY 2015:
“Over the years I have become more and more depressed by the neglect of many interesting and historic buildings but sometimes there is good news. Over the next few years we should see the complete refurbishment of a dilapidated 18th century townhouse at no. 10 Mill Street. This building is considered by many to be the sole survivor in the area of the gable-fronted house type and the last extant double gabled Dutch Billy in the city.”
“The distinctive features Dutch Billys was that the roof-ridge ran at right angles to the street with the front gables, in the most characteristic examples, being masked by quadrants sweeping up to very flat curved or triangular pediments. These houses were built of brick, normally on stone foundations, and designed to stand in continuous terraces. Very often economy was achieved by the use of corner fireplaces so that two houses might share a single huge chimney-stack. The returns generally contained a small closet on each floor, and the roof-pitch was steeper than became usual later in the century.”
This image gives me immense hope of consistently warm weather. North Carolina's weather can be absolutely marvelous and randomly inconsistent. Sunshine and intense heat can easily be followed by bitter chills, misty rain, and grim skies. We're all accustomed to keeping both flip flops and winter jackets simultaneously accessible. NC greeted the first official day of spring with overcast skies and air chilling enough to cause premature spring lovers to close their windows and pull out the blankets we packed away too soon.
