Breaking the meta will not initially earn you respect.

I was originally hoping to feel inspired by an image with a very different style than what I'm used to. I tend to prefer portraits, so I was hoping to be drawn to a landscape or maybe something more abstract. But as it turns out, I can’t get passed my attraction to classic portraits. I love this image because of its simplicity. The image being black and white adds to this aspect. This allows the viewer to concentrate on the subject’s emotions, and the overall feel of the photograph.

My goal here was not exactly to recreate this image, but to capture the atmosphere of Mary Ellen Mark’s original photograph. I did this by re-creating the scene (though not the specific picture). I found a similar looking model, dressed her up like Tiny, and showed her the original image. Sally mimicked Tiny’s facial expression perfectly. She made my job easy. I tried to choose pictures that look like they could have been taken during the same session as the original. I feel that my choices capture the mood of the original, while still representing my own artistic style.

This series, "COVID & Cocktails" is a dramatization of using alcohol as a coping method for dealing with the increased levels of stress experienced during these challenging times. These images are not meant to endorse or glamorize alcohol abuse.

The cracked, weathered pavement shows the wear of the harsh winter. Irregular and erratic lines dominate the frame that imply unrest and movement.

Tutor's comment: "You have chosen a good colour scheme for this restaurant as this is somewhere you want to attract people in but not encourage them staying too long without them actually knowing it! It is bright , modern, clean and inviting.I particularly like your choice of vibrant purple for one of the walls and you have chosen practical modern but stylish chairs, again the flooring is a sensible choice of product and colour. I plan to do my poster on "Gigi" in Art Nouveau style. I think I'm going to end up doing either #2 because I like how it turned out and it's pretty close to the art nouveau style (at least in my opinion haha) or #1 because it leaves a lot of room for text.

These sketches are just mostly the main part of the poster; the rest will be for where the text and logo are placed.

As a photographer I enjoy experimenting with lights and posing. Finding the right combination of the two is a challenge I very much enjoy. While I also love a good candid, I prefer my studio work to be intentional from top to bottom.
