Working on a school final right now (summer class I took on the history of photography) I actually not only enjoyed the class, but left knowing so many things I should've known earlier in my photography love. Regardless this is a part of my final for the class, and I'm really happy with how the images are all coming out. I'm shooting about 20 people tomorrow for it. :) I shot 6 tonight, but I also just posted about it late this evening.
Shallow Depth of Field
Intention- I wanted to display a shallow depth of field with a frozen water droplet in focus and the background out of focus.
Reference to the reading- Freeman states that oftentimes it does not occur to people to change the focus of an image to create an impact on a design which is unfortunate because of a shallow depth of field can draw the viewer's eye to a significant part of a photo.
Outcome- The water droplet is sharp because of a low aperture which allows the background to stay out of focus.
Edits- I increased the saturation of the image to see more of the gleam and reflection of light off of the frozen droplet.
Intention: To freeze motion with a high shutter speed
Reference to Reading: Michael Freeman talks about triangles, and how they are the most useful shapes, and how as a diagonal line would act, also creates a more dynamic image.
Outcome: This picture beat my expectation in the way that it captured both the snow spray and the great reactions of these girls happily sledding together. I am very happy with this picture.
Edits: Multiple Masks: +Exposure, -Saturation, +Contrast, +Whites, and +Saturation. General: +Exposure, -Highlights, +Shadows, -Whites, +Blacks, +Texture, +Clarity, +Dehaze, +Vibrance, Color Mixer for Hue, Saturation and Luminance, and Vignette.
This is a photograph for my location project at college. The location was my bedroom, I wanted to make these cute little creatures that would explore my bedroom while I was out. I got into paper craft and found a Danbo template, which I fell in love with! I used this template because it had moving limbs. I used some materials that I had in my bedroom and cut out all of the facial features.
Camera used: Nikon D3300
Focal length: 55 mm
ISO: 1600
Shutter speed: 1/2000
Aperture setting: f/5.7
Date the image was taken: 5/28/2020
Time of day when the image was captured: 1:46 PM
Description of what your intent was (what were you trying to capture and why): Used the traffic light as the main foucus of the photo while allining it over the right vertical line to follow the rule of thirds.
