I selected images that had a touch of humor, and a human component. I didn't intend for each photo to have people, but i later realized that was important. I enjoy when a Photographer has a good sense of humor.
All photos are credited. In the event I found the image on flickr I provided the link.
My goal with this image was to capture the blurred motion of this toy train going down its tracks, I am happy with the outcome of the image and capturing the speed of the train with a 1/30 shutter speed. I went in with a bit of editing to make it more saturated to give it sort of a kids-like view.
This is my daughter Sky and my dogs Pooper, Draco, and wrinkles. I was trying to catch motion with the dogs.
Intention/ This is supposed to be stopped motion of the flag.
Reference to the reading/ Freemans topic of Framing is somewhat more important than the actual motion, although there is also the element of anticipation.
Outcome/ Everything leads to the center (the flag), the curve of the tree branches, the flag pole and even the facing direction of the car. While it is not obvious that the flag is moving it is known that they do and the askew nature lends even more to the anticipation.
Edits/ I adjusted some levels but that is all.
Intention/ To showcase wide DOF and the vast space.
Reference to the reading/ I "asked a better question" (Duchemin) and used Freemans vertical framing to decide that the true subject of the image is the building, so it is better shot in vertical rather than horizontal.
Outcome/ This image is supposed to look empty and desolate, but I still would have liked a little sky detail and the allowance to crop in some of the foreground.
Edits/ I adjusted some levels but that is all.
I used the rule of thirds to capture how the light looked in the dark. Duchemin said,“A histogram that sits more to the left of the graph has less data than the same histogram sitting to the right.” which is how the histogram for this photo looked, most likely because of how dark out it was when I took the photo. The background of the photo before editing it did not appear as dark as I wanted it, but I still feel that I captured it well enough. I cropped the image and adjusted the brightness to make the background appear darker and make the light stand out more.
