TASK:CUSTUME BOKEH PATTERN 2

SUBJECT: LIGHT

LOCATION: SUMMER MALL

This is an example of extreme POV, with the focal point trailing away. I used a really high shutter speed because that is what my camera was set to and there was a train coming, however because it was such a sunny day it helped make it a little darker.

Fact: Average number of square miles by which Arctic sea ice decreased each day this summer: 36,400 (Harper's Index, Harper's Magazine Vol 325 Issue 1950 (2012) p15).

In order to visually portray this fact I decided to create a 'pop-out' style image using mainly bright bold colour throughout. I chose to use bright yellow and orange for the background to represent the summer days which is from the original fact, then using different shades of blue I created an ice berg which appears to be melting in the ocean to represent the decreasing arctic ice from the fact. As Australia tends to use kilo meters over miles I used the website: www.metric-conversions.org to convert the 36000 to 94000 to adapt the fact to the intended audience. I have shown the 94000 in the image to be a part of the ice and added a melting effect by drawing the shapes using the pencil tool in illustrator. By having the number as a part of the graphics it reduce the amount of text place on the image.

Black night lamp shining in a dark room

Just your average colored subject in a black and white backround. I saw this weed in my yard and had to take a picture, I love all the spikes on it, I just wish I had a better camera to capture all the shadows they create

UP CLOSE! When I shoot I always try to capture as much emotion as possible.

The intention with this shot was to showcase a strong sense of PoV, in this case, looking up a tree. Doing some research onto what a PoV is, I've found that it means "point of view". Reading Lisa's instructions (and emailing her), one of the elements that she mentions as having a "strong" point of view was looking far up, or far down. I was a bit hesitant on using this image as there's still very little 'sense of self', like arms & legs aren't seen and I'm not sure it completely reads that it's a Point of View, but I went with this image anyway because I still feel like it conveys a sense of wonder looking up, and the framing of the branches on the side looks gorgeous. No edits were made to the image.

This series, "COVID & Cocktails" is a dramatization of using alcohol as a coping method for dealing with the increased levels of stress experienced during these challenging times. These images are not meant to endorse or glamorize alcohol abuse.

Blurred Motion

Intention-I wanted to capture a blurred motion image of a person jumping from one rock to another.

Reference to the reading- Duchemin says that using a slow shutter speed to capture motion in a photo allows for an effective way of "communicating life and action" which can be seen in the dynamic figure in my photo.

Outcome- The background is sharp and in focus while the subject is blurred using a slow shutter speed.

Edits- I increased the brightness, saturation, and contrast to show more definition in the footprints in the snow as well as the trees in the background.

This is a project I made from scratch, using pictures, renders, and png images. I added the night effect and put lens flare on the headlights!

some cranes used to transform the world around them.

Going for movement in a sort of spacial way, as well as the person in the background looking like they're in transit.
