Being back to releases with a shot taken on our first evening in Immenstadt, during a walk along the shore of Alpsee. I really enjoy some fine rocks reflecting the last light of the day.

My lockdown music has been re-visiting my Genesis/Floyd collections and catching up on Steve Hackett's ouvre.
As well as the stuff I always listen to - Paul Simon/Ralph McTell/Eagles/etc. etc., also been following Clemency Burton-Hill's 'Year of Wonder' classical music suggestions. So which to choose, really . . .
This is five small pieces of chalk (rock) picked up from the beach.

01-April-2023: as in a joke on the first day of April, I found myself far from my car, still not so far, but progressively moving away, so much so that I was already wondering if I hadn't forgotten something in my (car) prosthesis, given that, in recent years, it has became my second home...
Leaving the black pine wood, you come across mount Veli Vrh, i.e. the first peak, from the west, of the southeast spine of this Kvarner island, made up of 4 main peaks with a secondary, more detached (and unnamed...) close to the Baška furrow, seen in the previous photo, all over 500m above sea level, therefore on the (low) mountain belt according to geographical "laws": 0-200m a.s.l. coasts and plains, 200-500m hill belt, over 500m mountain one.
This relief is the most frequented, both because it is the first with an excellent view towards the heart of the island, and because it is "easily" reachable from the underlying most populous area of the island made up of the capital Krk City and Punat with its vast marina.
Looking for transparent air, therefore rather dry and cold at high altitudes, with solar heating in the afternoon, you "risk" a certain instability, which I like and plays into the photogenic nature of my main passion.
Especially if there is a further nucleus of cold air at high altitudes approaching in the evening.
Here you can choose whether to go directly uphill on Veli Vrh and then take the ridge to reach the highest peak of the island, Obzova (569m a.s.l.; the 3rd of the main range) or choose a less scenic but more varied path which runs north of the ridge mentioned, and climbs more slowly and progressively up to said peak; of course I chose the second one...but also because I've already been on Veli Vrh in my youth.
A perfect day for my weather-photographic purposes, but also a great lunar landscape, certainly valid for my first steps on country land, like a child learning to walk...
I liked this frame of the Annapurna lit in the morning light as it shows how from right to left the life sustaining nature of the mountains change. Annapurna has one of the high number of climbing fatalities in the world, however as one comes little further away from it, the green cover is better and also life sustaining. I also love how this image is tricking us to believe that all the mountains in it are of the same height, while in reality, Annapurna towers above them as the 10th highest mountain at 8,091m

One from the archives. Looking from the Bay of Laig across to the very sunny Rhum. At the beginning of the beach are the singing sands. At this end of the beach are concretions known as the Devil's Marbles. When a local rock band asked me to do some photos for their album, I asked them if something like this in b/w would meet their criteria. They wanted portraits only.

“We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an
about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.”

SSC - Something Old Something New
For Old I have a collection of old 45 singles here featuring Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis and for New my iPhone set to play internet music. I decided to include the journey in between with a selection of CDs here featuring Ray Charles' last Album Genius Loves Company then moving on to my iPod which unfortunately is not functioning correctly at the moment. The title is a nod to the 70s genre of ProgRock.
For a bit of a throw back music wise you could try I got the Music in Me by Kiki Dee
Apologies, just realised that I have strayed from the brief, shouldn't have had the bit in the middle.
