Ok, so I started with the door mechanism first, which works ok. When I tried to provide a linkage up to the "surface" I ran into problems. So I'm ditching the mechanism for now while I build the various components first (front facade, opening rock walls, waterfall and jungle ground). They'll be lightly attached so I can move things around. I'm already feeling like it's not deep enough from front to back, 14 studs (the front facade is taking two, rock wall door is one plate plus one brick deep which leaves 9 studs for the waterfall. At this point, if I can build it with the rock wall doors being manually opened that's fine.
I'd like to cut out some of the green jungle floor as an opening to the waterfall (purple line area); ideally those plates could drop down into the shaft but given the small size of the whole thing they'd obscure a decent part of the waterfall, might need to raise the height another 8 suds or something.
Not sure about the statue in the pool yet, it's just there for effect atm. I might keep it or leave it out. It looks interesting but makes that whole area really cluttered and tight. We'll see, there's tons more to do.

The Carousel of Progress is an attraction located at the Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort, currently operating under the name Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress. Created by both Walt Disney and WED Enterprises as the prime feature of the General Electric (GE) Pavilion for the 1964 New York World's Fair, the attraction was moved to Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, remaining there from 1967 until 1973. It was replaced in Disneyland by America Sings in 1974, and reopened in its present home in Walt Disney World Resort's Magic Kingdom in 1975.
Steeped in both nostalgia and futurism, the attraction's premise is an exploration of the joys of living through the advent of electricity and other technological advances during the 20th century via a "typical" American family. To keep it up with the times, the attraction has been updated five times (in 1967, 1975, 1981, 1985, and 1993) and has had two different theme songs, both written by the Sherman Brothers (Disney's Academy Award-winning songwriting team).
Various sources say Walt Disney himself proclaimed that the Carousel of Progress was his favorite attraction and that it should never cease operation. This can be somewhat supported by family and friends, who knew of his constant work on the attraction. Of all the attractions he presented at the 1964–1965 New York World's Fair, Disney seemed especially devoted to the Carousel of Progress.
The Carousel of Progress holds the record as the longest-running stage show, with the most performances, in the history of American theater. It is one of the oldest attractions in the whole Walt Disney World Resort. It is also one of the only attractions at Walt Disney World to have been touched by Walt Disney himself.

Statement: When I saw Stanely Twardowics' photograph of gondolas, I was captivated by the crystal clear reflection seen in the water. I've always been intrigued by reflections, when I was younger I used to think there was something on the other side trying to pass through the world but couldn't because its equal counterpart would block it from entering. It is this childhood theory that has helped me come to think of an idea for my project. This man in the Guardian of one realm and trying to keep the mirror realm at bay.

it used to be mostly low-rise south of the river, the Shard a notable recent exception. Now new towers are popping up and reaching for the sky every day...
Cruising through the countryside at Beamish Museum is this absolute masterpiece of motor car preservation, a 1901 four seater made by The Progress Cycle Co. of Coventry (UK) and registered M 115.
This priceless example of the 500 made by the company is believed to be one of only two remaining today.
The Progress Cycle Company made cars from 1898 until 1903. They also made motorcycles between 1900 and 1905.
The car was at Beamish for the Steam Gala event on 9/10 April 2022.

the colours are not quite right, the yellow is really orange and the blues look too intense here. Not enough natural light (it's been a cloudy day) but I was bent on taking the shot anyway
I got the heater core box set back in and called it a night. I figure if I can do even 15 minutes a day I'll have the car back on the road eventually.
Getting there with it - it's now got a new MoT and has just had a service with lots of new parts, clutch replaced and new/overhauled brake calipers. Some welding was needed, which I now have to get painted (will do this myself).
But....
After a few miles driving it back from the garage it started running really badly. The rev's kept dropping, then picking up again. It was tolerable when on a straight road, but became a problem when having to stop and start at junctions etc.
The unfortunate thing is I'd gone to a load of effort to get it ready for the Ipswich-Felixstowe Run tomorrow. It's probably something very simple, but with limited time today and the fact my wife would be driving it tomorrow sadly it's going to have to stay at home until I can get it round to the garage again :-(
