Day 120 - Yup it is that time again to head down to the ECS, and discuss progress on green building. It was a short meeting as alot of people could either not attend or where out of town, as with the summer months people tend to take time off. I took this photo just because the system we have is nothing like the one we rode in London. First off one of their lines has more stops total than all of our one line combined. Secondly, if our town ever wanted to become a world class city, it would need a subway system that works better, 10 minutes between trains hurts, but it is understandable because everyone here prefers to drive. The stats I read is that the Tube moves 3.4 million people a day on the weekday, factor in the population of 7.8 million that is just a little under half the population. Here 92k people ride it compared to a population of about 800k. Large difference in ratios.

That 10 minute wait on the platform around 10AM there was a handful of people. Where is the tube, you would be lucky to get some breathing room, packed in there like sardines, this is with 2 minute frequencies between trains at almost all times. I think a major problem is we keep choosing to build overground, big cities have subways or skytrains, they dont really slam their trains on ground and slow down traffic. To me that was a very poor design item on the cities part.

Anyways enough about me ranting of how sucky of a train system we have, actually one last thing, every real city I have been to can connect you from the airport to downtown by train. That is all.

It has been so hot that it's hard to get to good shots. Some were taken in the mid afternoon and some in the evening. Just documenting the progress of the garden for the midseason point for the year.

Progress was finally made on the garage.

Shawl in progress using a ranbow yarn of black and autumn colors. It's a soft boucle yarn. This is about 18 inches tall, and I'm working it until it's 48 inches! Then I'll be adding fringe along the sides. I hope the recipient likes it!

This sign hides behind a bush at the corner of 2nd Street and Detroit. In the corner is a run down "Pocket Park" that was constructed a couple of years ago. I don't know how long the sign has been there.

This was the first time for a PUG event. Here Gus and Rick Kuzyk talked about what sessions they thought everyone should go see. It was a good event and at least for me, it helped me decide in some places where I wasn't sure which one to go see.
