The current City Hall building is a near-50-year-old structure that has served the city well but, in its current state, is functionally obsolete. Built in 1969, the current City Hall requires major renovations that are complicated by the presence of friable asbestos and the way the electrical and mechanical systems were installed.
On October 3, 2017, Virginia Beach city council unanimously approved a resolution to proceed with the design of a new city hall building. The new three-story structure adjacent to the current city hall, between Buildings 1 and 2, is under construction and progressing well.

This is a new dawn for America. I have to say that, for the first time that I can remember, I feel hopeful and optimistic about this country's future. Today I am especially proud of our country.
I love the leaves for the hibiscus. And that purple flower (don't ask me what that is...I think I make it up ;) The "hills" in the back are some really cool handmade tiles I bought from Maryland Mosaics. I LOVE those! Will get some more! The side hill that is brown with leafy green is a great plate. My favorite thing is making a piece using all plates. With the exception of the glass in the bird of paradise and the handmade tiles, this one is all plates.
Progress continues on the farmhouse renovation as we sort out what to keep and what to toss (including a mattress box spring made in 1945) and start to imagine the remodeling projects.
I’m currently making two plush dolls for a special project, so I thought I’d share some in progress pics and talk about making them. :)

i frogged a cowl i knitted for my mum ages ago and started it again using a different pattern that will hopefully be more snug and will drape better. the eyelet pattern isn't hugely obvious because the yarn is so bulky but it feels lovely, making the most of the soft yarn.

Central Atlanta Progress (CAP) and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) hosted their 2015 Annual Meeting today at the Georgia World Congress Center’s Sidney Marcus Auditorium. With the theme “Downtown Atlanta is on the Move”, CAP’s Annual Meeting celebrated the people, places and businesses that are shaping Downtown's bright and exciting future.

At a glance the first thing we might notice is two green post-it notes on a surface. On one green post-it note there is writing that states “Test in progress”. I imagine the story the picture is trying to tell is that a student is taking a test in their bedroom and they want to give their family a warning incase they are being loud or need something from the student. This can create inequality because not everyone has a home life that can give students the working environment their school is expecting from them. In some test situations, it is required to have your microphone and camera on. This can cause many students to feel uncomfortable because their class can hear everything that is going on in their house and in the event they are taking the test in a public room then they might see members of their family. This impacts our lives because for the past two years all of our schooling has primarily been online. This means that a lot of us are taking class from home which can sometimes mean we have our home life on display. At times this can provide loud and unfavourable learning environments that many of us would not want people we have never met to see. This situation might be a concern because the students cannot control the actions or events that take place in their home. Many situations are out of students control and by having their camera on, it can turn an already stressful situation into a worse one. This can demonstrate violence by limiting a students potential through an improvised learning environment due to a global pandemic. The photograph can educate society on being mindful of everyone’s unique home life. Some people do not want to turn their camera/microphone on because it makes them feel very uncomfortable and self conscious of their home life and this should be normalized. We can improve the situation by providing students with different situations to take a test that might make them more comfortable. The community can improve through communication and finding a common understanding of the different home lives students have.

progress on the darkroom, thank you Ruthie for the all the guidance and thank you Bryan for all the hard work. I do not know anything about home remodeling and have learned a lot so far, fish for a person and they eat for a day, teach a person to fish and they will eat fish for three days and then hire someone to fish.
