On the first day of the program, the Center for Sport, Peace, & Society led the 16 delegates through icebreakers, introductions, and a discussion about the challenges girls and women face in their communities. This was followed by a presentation from Trina Bolton, a program officer in the Sports Diplomacy division of the U.S. Department of State. The day concluded with teambuilding and bonding exercises at Terrapin Adventures.

Our students expanded their knowledge of Python by learning about lists. We started off this morning learning about basic lists but by the afternoon we were making two dimensional lists. They will use what they learned about lists to make a tic-tac-toe game. Our students are very eager to participate which has created an excellent classroom environment.
The Library Codelab: Intro to Programming class is hard at work writing out their first program. This class was held in honor of STEAM month and taught by library staff. This class used no computers to teach computer science concepts, such as: logic, programming languages, and more. Students created programs such as "Going to the Gym" or "Alert me when my car has less than a 1/4 tank of Gas." This class was held at Plaza Midwood Library on Tuesday, October 1.
