University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto joined the president of the UK Student Development Council, Jonathon Nunley, Kentucky Historical Society Marker Program Coordinator Becky Riddle and others April 15 in dedicating the latest addition to the Live Blue Legacy historical marker program. The marker is made possible through donations from members of the Class of 2012.
This historical highway marker, the 19th in a series, pays tribute to UK student traditions dating back more than 100 years.
An early rivalry between freshman and sophomore classes on the UK campuses was the annual 'Flag Rush' competition where one class would defend their flag from being captured by a rush of competitors.
Replacing the flag rush in 1913 was the 'Tug of War' across Clifton Pond. Students were granted a half-holiday for the annual drenching, and crowds could reach more than 2,000 for the event.
The dedication ceremony and unveiling of the marker took place at a site located near the William T. Young Library on the UK campus. A reception followed.
Since 1994, the Live Blue Legacy Program has supported the placement of Kentucky Historical Society Highway Markers across the UK campus. The Live Blue Legacy Program is administered by the Student Development Council, whose members solicit gifts from members of the graduating class, in this case the Class of 2012. These funds are used to purchase, install and dedicate a marker in the name of that particular class.
দেশ সেরা শিক্ষা গ্রুপ সাসেগ-গুরুকুল শিক্ষা পরিবারের উদ্যোগে কুষ্টিয়াস্থ শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগের বিদায় অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। গত ৪ এপ্রিল (২০১৬) তারিখে সকাল ৯টা থেকে দিনব্যাপী কুষ্টিয়া জেলা শিল্পকলা একাডেমি মিলনায়তনে অনুষ্ঠিত সাসেগ-গুরুকুল শিক্ষা পরিবারের ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগ সমূহের বিদায় অনুষ্ঠানে বিদায় অনুষ্ঠান উদযাপন কমিটির আহবায়ক ও কম্পিউটার বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান চঞ্চল আলীর সভাপতিত্বে সম্মানিত অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সাসেগ-গুরুকুল শিক্ষা পরিবারের উপদেষ্টা পরিষদের সদস্য আনিসুর রহমান মাহমুদ, বিআরবি ক্যাবলস ইন্ডাষ্ট্রিজ লি. কুষ্টিয়ার কোয়ালিটি কন্ট্রোল বিভাগের সিনিয়র ম্যানেজার ইঞ্জিনিয়ার মতিয়ার রহমান, বিআরবি ক্যাবলস ইন্ডাষ্ট্রিজ লি. কুষ্টিয়ার ডেপুটি জেনারেল ম্যানেজার (টেকনিক্যাল) আফজাল হোসেন, ইসলামি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কুষ্টিয়ার নির্বাহী প্রকৌশলী (তড়িৎ) ইঞ্জিনিয়ার একেএম শরীফ উদ্দীন, কুষ্টিয়া ফ্রিল্যান্সার এসোসিয়েশনের সভাপতি সানোয়ার হোসেন সৌরভ, সহ-সভাপতি হাজী আরিফ ও বিশিষ্ট ব্যবসায়ী পাকিজা টেক্সটাইল কুষ্টিয়ার ডিস্ট্রিবিউটর সাজাহান আলী। এছাড়াও অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সাসেগ-গুরুকুল শিক্ষা পরিবারের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা নির্বাহী পরিচালক তথ্য প্রযুক্তিবিদ সুফি ফারুক ইবনে আবুবকর, পরিচালক প্রশাসন মনির হাসান, প্রধান সমন্বয়কারী তানভীর মেহেদি ও লিগ্যাল এন্ড মিডিয়া বিভাগের সমন্বয়কারী শামীম রানা প্রমুখ। অনুষ্ঠানে অতিথিরা তাদের বক্তব্যে বলেন, সাসেগ-গুরুকুল শিক্ষা পরিবার ১৫টি কারিগরি কলেজ গড়ে কুষ্টিয়া তথা দেশের কারিগরি শিক্ষায় ব্যাপক অবদান রেখে চলেছে। কারিগরি শিক্ষার মাধ্যমে একজন শিক্ষার্থী নিজেকে সমৃদ্ধ করে গড়ে তুলতে পারে, দেশের জনসম্পদে পরিণত হতে পারে। অতিথিরা সাধারণ শিক্ষার সাথে কারিগরি শিক্ষার ব্যাপক পার্থক্য রয়েছে বলেও তাদের অভিমত ব্যক্ত করেন। শিক্ষার্থী অভিভাবকদের কারিগরি শিক্ষার প্রতি আহবান জানান। সাসেগ-গুরুকুল শিক্ষা পরিবারের ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগের ৬শতাধিক শিক্ষার্থীর উপস্থিতিতে অনুষ্ঠানে অন্যান্যদের মধ্যে বক্তব্য রাখেন টেক্সটাইল ও গার্মেন্টস ডিজাইন এন্ড প্যাটার্ন মেকিং বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান জান্নাতুল নাঈম, ইলেকট্রিক্যাল বিভাগের প্রধান রাশনা শারমিন, সিভিল বিভাগের প্রধান তৌফিক এলাহি ওয়ারা, মেকানিক্যাল বিভাগের প্রধান মামুন হক, আরএস বিভাগের প্রধান ওয়াহেদ মতিন। আলোচনা সভা শেষে সাসেগ-গুরুকুল কালচারাল ক্লাবের পরিবেশনায় মনোজ্ঞ সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান পরিবেশিত হয়। দিনব্যাপী অনুষ্ঠানটি সার্বিক উপস্থাপনা করেন সোনিয়া মাহমুদ, ইয়াছিন আরাফাত, সাবরিনা মমতাজ চয়ন, রাশনা শারমিন, জোনাকী খাতুন, নাহিদ ফারজানা ও সিদ্ধার্থ সৌভন রায়।
Through Compassion this year's Group showed that service can be fun and that there is no joy like helping others who may not be as fortunate. Through Sustainability the group was able to enhance their knowledge of the what it means to preserve life on Earth. Discovery Program 2011 "Become a part of the Program, Become a part of the Passion, Become a part of the PRIDE."

Community Internship Program students showcased their career internships as well as community service and projects along with their mentors at an exhibition in the Small Gym of Blythewood High School on Thursday, January 9.
As always, Blythewood High thanks the community for their partnerships with our students.

One of my favourite toys to get when I was a young child was hot wheels. These toys allowed me to use my imagination and offered hours of entertainment.
As I reflected on my childhood years, I decided on this chair design not only because I loved Hotwheels, but also because the chair represents a good friendship I had as a child. I had a friend when I was very little and we always played together. I was his only friend. Other children did not want to play with him because he was burned in a fire and his physical appearance was different, but we hung around together all the time. When I moved away he gave me a hot wheels car – his favourite one. I no longer have that car, but I was able to find one that was almost the same which I keep on my computer and it reminds me of him all the time.
I hope that someone can enjoy this chair as much as I enjoyed working on it. Check out all the play-features of this chair! Under the seat, the drawer pulls out to reveal a Hot-wheels lunch kit, racing themed crayons, pencils and erasers, and a fantastic collection of little racing cars!

1) Jueves 27 de Noviembre 19 hrs presentación del Libro "Scuola Mía", proyecto documental que rescata la vida subjetiva de la Scuola Italiana de Valparaíso. Libro publicado por el Consejo de Monumentos Nacionales y Fotogamia. El libro será presentado por Loreto Solis, co-fundadora del portal fotogamia y la fotógrafa Maite Larregui, autora del libro. Al cabo de la presentación habrá un coctel y serán sorteados dos ejemplares entre los asistentes.
2) Viernes 28 de Noviembre 18hrs. Exhibición del Documental "La Ciudad de los Fotógrafos" y presentación del libro "Multitudes en Sombras" que indaga sobre la historia de la Asociación de fotógrafos Independientes de Chile, AFI, a cargo de Gonzalo Leiva, Doctor en Historia y Mauricio del Pino, Docente de Duoc UC. La publicación fue financiada por Fondart y es producto de una profunda investigación sobre el trabajo documental de más de 70 fotógrafos chilenos, muchos de ellos desconocidos.
3) Sábado 29 de De Noviembre: Maratón de películas y documentales con temáticas fotográficas:
De 12hrs a 14hrs y de las 15hrs hasta las 20hrs:
• "Blow-Up" de Michelangelo Antonioni,
• "Un hombre con una cámara" de Dziga Vertov,
• "Imágenes Obscenas" sobre la obra del fotógrafo Robert Mapplethorpe;
• Documentales: "La Fotografía hecha Difícil" Eugène Smith, "Fotógrafo de Guerra" sobre James Nachtwey.
Los visionados serán acompañados por una introducción crítica a cargo de Fotogamia.
4) Domingo 30 de Noviembre: Fotolibre V región. Desde las 10hrs hasta las 13:30hrs, Paseo Gervasoni 448, Cerro Concepción, Valparaíso. Exposición al aire libre de fotografías con temática libre que se realiza anualmente en el paseo Gervasoni de la ciudad Puerto. Fotolibre V región invita todos los amantes de la fotografía a participar con tres imágenes. Se premiarán los tres primeros lugares.
