UI Health Care STEM Education partnered with UI Orientation Services in hosting an interactive STEM experience for siblings of future freshman at University of Iowa. Students had the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at the newest MRI Research Facility and learn about how it works and what it is used for.

University of Iowa Health Care is committed partners with formal and informal educators and community organizations across the state to advance STEM literacy to inspire the next generation of health care professionals and build a foundation for children to understanding their own health. In FY2015, more than 16,000 school age children were engaged in hands on learning provided by 260 faculty, staff and students.

O principal objetivo do programa “Mais Médicos” é reduzir as desigualdades de saúde ampliando o “Programa Saúde da Família” reduzindo as disparidades no acesso a serviços de saúde de qualidade que continuam atingindo grande parte da população brasileira. O Programa é congruente com o plano Nacional de Desenvolvimento do Brasil 2022 o que vai acelerar os avanços nas realizações das metas dos Objetivos de Desenvolvimento do Milênio da Nações Unidas.

 

Até o momento o Programa Mais Médicos conta com 14,168 médicos, do qual 11,429 são administrados pela OPAS. Os médicos que participam do programa trabalham em 3,785 municípios e 34 comunidades indígenas. O programa Mais Médicos atende a uma população de mais de 48.6 milhões de brasileiros e conta com uma cobertura de 100% de todos os municípios que se aplicaram para o programa.

Ao lançar, nesta sexta-feira (29/6), em Florianópolis/SC, o Programa Valorização – Juiz Valorizado, Justiça Completa, do Conselho Nacional de Justiça (CNJ), o conselheiro José Lúcio Munhoz, presidente da Comissão Permanente de Eficiência Operacional e Gestão de Pessoas do CNJ, afirmou que o Poder Judiciário tem sido chamado cada vez mais para solucionar problemas relacionados a deficiências na atuação do Estado. Segundo ele, isso tem sobrecarregado os magistrados. Da abertura em Florianópolis participaram o conselheiro José Lúcio Munhoz e Jefferson Kravchychyn, respectivamente, presidente e integrante da Comissão Permanente de Eficiência Operacional e Gestão de Pessoas do CNJ; a presidente do TRT12, desembargadora Gisele Pereira Alexandrino; o presidente do Tribunal de Justiça do Estado de Santa Catarina, desembargador Cláudio Barreto Dutra; o presidente do Tribunal de Justiça do Estado do Paraná, desembargador Miguel Kfouri Neto; e a presidente do Tribunal Regional Federal da 4ª Região, desembargadora Inge Barth Tessler.

The Revera and Reel Youth Age is More Film Project is an intergenerational partnership between Revera, a Canadian leader in seniors' accommodation, care and services, and Reel Youth, a charitable project that empowers youth to create engaging films about important social issues. The partnership was launched in 2013.

 

With 80 films to date, the program celebrates older Canadians through story-telling and film, with the added benefit of fostering new intergenerational relationships. The project aims to shed light on ageism, challenge the assumptions of aging and recognize the valuable contributions of older adults to society.

This is an item I'd hate to be without! I saved up my money when I had my first job, and it cost me about £300, which seemed a lot to me then!

 

The sad fact is I don't use it any more (the last time it seemed to over expose the photos), because it's too heavy and I would have to keep buying film for it! But I just can't get rid of it! (Anyway, my son Matt keeps pinching the lenses for his DSLR camera!!)

I discovered that, prior to tossing the physical CD in the trash, I saved a disk image of the Apple Dylan Technology Release, the only time Apple Dylan saw the light of day.

 

Unfortunately, it doesn't actually run in Basilisk II. Dunno about Sheepsaver yet, but this one might actually require hardware.

During a Native American history-themed sleepover at the National Archives in Washington, DC, 101 kids and their grown-ups spent the night enjoying history-related activities, learning from special guests actor Martin Sensmeier, Jim Thorpe historians Bob Wheeler and Flo Ridlon, and Native American storyteller Perry Ground. After sleeping over night in the Rotunda, participants enjoyed a pancake breakfast made by the Archivist of the United States, David S. Ferriero, on October 14, 2018.

Brighter Bites is a collaborative effort designed to improve access to healthy, affordable food and provide nutrition education. The University of Texas School of Public Health, KIPP Schools, the Houston Food Bank and Texas Children's Hospital have partnered to offer the 16-week program to third-grade children enrolled at KIPP Explore Academy and their parents. As you can see from the photos, those healthy kale smoothies are a hit!
