The provincial government is investing more than $140,000 to help families encourage a love of reading at an early age. Premier Brian Gallant highlighted the programs today in conjunction with New Brunswick Literacy Day.

Partners came together in mid-June to plant fifty threatened swamp pink plants at a western North Carolina bog managed by the North Carolina Plant Conservation Program. The fifty plants were raised in captivity by the Atlanta Botanical Garden from seed collected at the site. Raising the seeds in captivity reduces plant mortality, while using seeds originally harvested from this site helps conserve any unique genetic characteristics that may occur in the plants found at this bog. Staff from the Atlanta Botanical Garden, N.C. Plant Conservation Program, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service helped with the planting.
Swamp pink has been on the federal threatened and endangered species list as threatened since 1988. It’s sporadically found in wetlands from New Jersey to Georgia.

El programa de Esquí Escolar comenzó en el cerro Catedral y continuará hasta fines de septiembre brindado clases a todos los niñas y niños de 5º grado que asisten a escuelas públicas, tanto de Bariloche como Dina Huapi, Ñirihuau y Corralito.
Neste fim de semana, uma obra em grafite coletiva foi realizada em um muro de aproximadamente 50 metros, na Rua Silvianópolis, no Bairro Santa Tereza. A obra, fruto do Programa Gentileza, da Prefeitura de Belo Horizonte, tem como tema a história e elementos culturais do tradicional bairro, situado na região leste da capital.
