American Guinea Hogs roam easily in large fenced grazing areas and freely around the home, driveway and grounds of the Hock-Newberry Farm operation owned by Erica Govednik, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, who successfully runs an organically-managed, multi-species, rotational-grazing farm on rented land in Marshall, VA, on Saturday, May 21, 2016. The farm’s products consist of forested American Guinea Hog pork, a Nubian dairy goatherd share program, and free-range egg and broiler chicken program. During the tour Ms. Govednik shares her knowledge and experience of multi-species grazing, lowering expenses with used equipment and material purchases, DIY projects, low-cost electric fencing to make the most of rented land, and direct marketing.
This is part of From Service to Stewardship a two-day intensive workshop in Remington, Va., on May 20-21. The Livestock Conservancy, Virginia Cooperative Extension, and Lakota Ranch, are holding this workshop to help educate military service veterans about rare breed animal and poultry options for farming enterprises.
Some of the topics include, getting started, networking, marketing, poultry processing, breeding, husbandry, scything, rotational grazing and pasture management, tractor selections, milking and oxen, and electric fence building.
In 2014, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the availability of more than $9 million in outreach and technical assistance for minority farmers and ranchers and military veterans that are new to farming and ranching. The funding, provided through the Outreach and Assistance for Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers and Veteran Farmers and Ranchers Program, also known as the 2501 Program, will enable community-based organizations and other partners to work directly with these groups to successfully acquire, own and operate farms and ranches and equitably participate in all USDA programs. This is an item I'd hate to be without! I saved up my money when I had my first job, and it cost me about £300, which seemed a lot to me then!
The sad fact is I don't use it any more (the last time it seemed to over expose the photos), because it's too heavy and I would have to keep buying film for it! But I just can't get rid of it! (Anyway, my son Matt keeps pinching the lenses for his DSLR camera!!)

She thought about how she didn't have enough money to bury herself.
She'd be a burden if she died, so she bought a ten-thousand-dollar life-insurance policy. Then felt it wasn't enough and left instructions for cremation or cardboard box.
She battled cigarettes, negotiating her next smoke, and taking a shower, washing her hair again, rinsing traces of a bad habit into the sewage. She took five showers a day sometimes.
She worried about finding a job, even though she'd once had the perfect job with the perfect salary. But nothing was different.
She focused on her pain, both physical and emotional until she couldn’t move. She was certain she was being forced into a square peg of conforming to something.
Her library contained everything and nothing. She read about Bryon, literary agents, screenplays, Disraeli's letters, plot ideas, English Lords, scriptwriting, Indian wars, antiques and Tutankhamun.
Her father was an asshole, and it was a weird thing to suddenly realize.
The months kept flying by and then it was Mr. Jones’ funeral.

Official opening of the International Space University’s Space Studies Program on 25 June 2018, at ESA in the Netherlands.
The opening ceremony was attended by HM the King of the Netherlands and addressed by ESA Director General Jan Wörner.
The nine-week programme will see more than 130 participants representing 37 nationalities take part in lectures, workshops and team projects to gain an interdisciplinary understanding of all aspects of the space industry.
This year’s ISU programme is co-hosted by the Technical University Delft and the Netherlands Space Office, in close cooperation with ESA and Leiden University.
Two groups of participants will focus in particular on issues of space safety and sustainability as they prepare project reports on the role space should play in human adaptation to global climate change and on new ideas for the removal of space debris from Earth orbit using ecologically sound technology.

The fall 2012 hackNY student hackathon brought in hundreds of students to NYU's Courant Institute for 24 hours of creative collaborative hacking on New York City startups' APIs.
NYC Startups, selected by a student organizing committee, presented their technologies at the beginning of the event, after which students formed groups to work through the night implementing their own ideas for fresh hacks built on top of these APIs.
On Sunday afternoon students presented their projects to an audience including a judging panel featuring members of the NYC startup community, which selected the final winning teams.
Since April 2010, hackNY hosts student hackathons one each semester, as well as the hackNY Fellows program, a structured internship which pairs quantitative and computational students with startups which can demonstrate a strong mentoring environment: a problem for a student to work on, a person to mentor them, and a place for them to work. Startups selected to host a student compensate student Fellows. Students enjoy free housing together and a pedagogical lecture series to introduce them to the ins and outs of joining and founding a startup in NYC.

Portfolio Art Programs
These evening and weekend classes for talented students who decide to continue art education for more “practical” level. These programs allow artists to focus on “portfolio” areas: painting, creative thinking, illustration, graphic design, digital art and art history. For the end of four years of study every student will have extensive portfolio to show at enrollment in to college or workplace.
Workshops
These one or two-week intensive sessions are taught by Living Art Studio's instructors, outstanding artists, Dr. Jane Goretskaya and doctoral student, MA, Marina Bichinsky. They allow artists to build upon their knowledge. As evidence of their value, a growing number of our international alumni return regularly to advance their skills.

Virginia National Guard Family Programs presents awards and certificates of appreciation to their volunteers during the State Volunteer Recognition Workshop and Youth Symposium Aug. 14, 2022, in Newport News, Virginia. During the ceremony, the National Guard Bureau Family Programs Region 3 Volunteer of the Year award was presented to April Fisher, a volunteer with the Suffolk-based Bravo Troop, 2nd Squadron, 183rd Cavalry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Col. Matthew Gallegos, the Virginia Air National Guard director of staff, gave remarks during the ceremony, which also recognized Family Readiness Group volunteers from around the state for their hard work and dedication working with VNG families and youths.
