Para que más vallecaucanos tengan oportunidades de emprender y generar sus propios ingresos, dando pasos significativos en su ruta hacia la superación de la pobreza, Prosperidad Social abrirá 1.300 nuevos cupos del programa Mi Negocio, llegando a 3.300 en total para esta región del país.
El anuncio lo hizo este viernes en Cali el director general de Prosperidad Social, Nemesio Roys Garzón, durante la Feria de Emprendimiento del programa, que contó con la asistencia de más de 400 participantes.
"Generar empleo e ingresos es lo que necesitan los colombianos para superar pobreza. Hoy en Cali estamos viendo cómo ya 2 mil emprendedores han participado de programas de inclusión productiva y que siguen contando con acompañamiento para que esos negocios sean sostenibles, formales y exitosos", aseguró el director Nemesio Roys Garzón.
En la Feria, se conocieron experiencias exitosas como la del negocio de confecciones de Blanca Nelly Muñoz; el de Diana Marcela Henao, quien se dedica a la venta de arepas y el de Alba Teresa Duque hoy profesional de la belleza, emprendedoras que creyeron en sí mismas y con el apoyo del programa, empezaron a generar sus propios ingresos, mejorando su calidad de vida y la de sus familias.
En el evento, se hizo entrega a aproximadamente 20 participantes de insumos para fortalecer sus negocios, entre los que se encuentran misceláneas, salones de belleza, cafeterías, entre otros. Los demás emprendedores recibirán los insumos directamente en sus casas.
La Feria de Emprendimiento hizo parte de la jornada de trabajo realizada por Prosperidad Social desde el jueves en Cali, en donde además se presentó el programa Empleo para la Prosperidad a empresarios de la región, así como a comunidades afro e indígenas. En el Valle serán más de 1.100 las personas beneficiadas con formación técnica que les permita acceder a oportunidades de trabajo formal. / Ago. 04, 2017. The FFHL conducts a Child Sponsorship Program to provide primary and secondary educational financial assistance for economically marginalized families who are unable to pay for their annual tuition of $500.00 due to economic difficulties. FFHL believes that every child should have an opportunity to an education and no one should be turned away from attending class. The child sponsorship program is a seven year commitment from the 6th grade through the 12th grade.
The children attend the Terra Santa schools, administered by the Franciscan Custody, which are unique because their philosophy is to bring individuals together without any bias either to social class or to Christian or non-Christian students in terms of educational activities. The schools acquaint the student with the values of family life and of society so as to benefit from both. Each school attempts to meet the needs of all those who are deprived physically, morally, economically, and to welcome them as family. The policy of the Franciscan Terra Santa Schools has always been openness and service towards all.
In 2014, the FFHL Child Sponsorship Program provided $109,000 for 218 economically marginalized children, who would otherwise not be receiving an education, to attend classes in schools in Jerusalem, Jaffa, Ramleh and Bethlehem.
The Utah State Office of Education Title VII Program in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Red Butte Garden, the Urban Indian Center and the Utah Natural History Museum hosted the second annual of the Earth Connections Camp, American Indian Nature Camp on June 18.
The camp’s goal is to reconnect urban American Indian youth with their natural world and cultural heritage, organizers said.
The 30 campers, divided into two groups, spent the day at Red Butte Garden learning about American Indian traditions, history, arts and craft, storytelling and nutrition.
American Indian educators and specialists from the various partners led each of the learning stations.
Juan Palma, BLM Utah state director, was the keynote speaker. He shared his story of growing up in a family of migrant workers and the difference education made in his life.
Other activities during the day-long camp included building solar toys and constructing dams with the assistance of Bureau of Reclamation staff.
“I was so impressed with the instructors, volunteers, and especially the campers,” said Jeanette Shackelford, BLM Utah State Youth Program Lead. “The kids were respectful and attentive, and I personally learned a lot from listening to the different sessions.”
Organizers hope to continue to collaborate and expand the day-camp to have more students attend.
