In the heart of the night, large luminous birds with spotted feathers fly by. Inspired by cute snowy owls, they twirl around delicately. Witness the courtship of this majestic pair of birds and enjoy a moment of joy and poetry.
As a paraglider, Christophe Martine is naturally interested in creations in the air. He is the founder of 'Porte par le Vent', a company that sets up shows and installations centred around the wind. He then turned to light and, with 'Lumineoles', he created his first night-time scenography for the Lyon Festival of Lights in 2011. Since then, he has been building a singular universe populated by kites and inspired by fauna and flora. His choreographed shows have been presented in Shanghai, Moscow, Singapore and London.

Bright Brussels, the festival of lights returns to brighten up the capital this winter!
Four evenings and three routes will take you on a journey to discover of some twenty immersive and poetic artistic works. From 10 to 13 February, the Royal Quarter, the European Quarter and the Flagey neighborhood will be illuminated by enchanting light installations. The festival will also feature a fringe programme, including evening events in the museums.
It's become a tradition for the lights of Bright Brussels to warm us up in the dead of winter and, best of all, it's completely free!

Dans le cadre du programme Dominer le changement, version 2014, l’Impact de Montréal et Kia Canada se sont associés pour offrir à 60 jeunes de 8 à 12 ans, une clinique de soccer d’une durée de 3 jours pour les aider à développer des aptitudes pour le soccer.
Cette clinique qui a eu lieu tout à côté du stade Saputo fut dirigée par les entraîneurs de l’école de soccer de l’Impact de Montréal. Dans le cadre de cette clinique, les jeunes ont eu également l’occasion d’augmenter leur estime de soi, leur esprit sportif, de même que leur sens du leadership. Lors de la dernière journée, les sourires étaient au rendez-vous lorsque chacun des jeunes a reçu des souliers de soccer à crampons Adidas et des billets pour assister à un match de l’Impact.
Under the 2014 Drive Change program, the Montreal Impact and Kia Canada have teamed up to offer a three day soccer clinic for 60 young people from 8 to 12 years, to help them develop skills for soccer.
This clinic, which took place right next to the Saputo stadium, was led by coaches of the Montreal Impact soccer school. As part of this clinic, the youth also had the opportunity to increase their self-esteem, sportsmanship, as well as leadership skills. On the last day, each youth received Adidas soccer cleats and tickets to attend a game for the Montreal Impact.
Dennis Hill (Northern Region) came in as a substitute and finished in 6th place. Some heavy alterations to the programme which had obviously been printed well in advance and some riders being unable to compete.

Pilawary Farm in Kabul was established jointly by UNDP and the World Food Programme in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock. The project provides 16 hectares of land where 100 women can grow crops like potatoes, carrots, tomatoes and spinach. Wells have been dug to ensure proper crop irrigation, and the women also get training in organic farming methods, pre- and post-harvest management, food processing, packaging and marketing. In addition, the World Food Programme provides these women with a monthly ration of flour, pulses and oil.
Gul Pari was given a place on the farm, and started cultivating the land. Soon she was able to meet her household expenses.
“I am getting 4000-5000 afghanis per month ($60-$70),” says Gul. “I take vegetables home every day, as well as jams and pickles. This means my children don’t go hungry.”
Pilawary Farm is funded by UNDP’s Small Grants Programme, and by UNDP’s EGEMA Project (Enhancing Gender Equality and Mainstreaming in Afghanistan) which is supported by the Republic of Korea.
The EGEMA project has so far created jobs for 220 Afghan women in Kabul and Herat provinces, and a further 260 jobs are planned in Daikundi, Herat, Balkh and Nangarhar provinces. EGEMA works to improve data and to mainstream gender in national policies, to empower women economically, and change behavior by working with mullahs and youth.

This is a photograph from the inaugural running of the North West Kildare Athletic Club 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held at Edenderry Rugby Club, Coolavacoose, Carbury, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Sunday 19th April 2015 at 11:00. The rugby club is situated about 3 miles east of Edenderry, Co. Offaly on the R402 which connects Edenderry with Johnstownbridge, Co. Kildare and Enfield, Co. Meath. North West Kildare Athletic Club are a recently formed club and this race was a fundraiser for it's juvenille programme. The race was an out-and-back course which took runners from the rugby club out onto the R402 for 2.5KM and turned around and returned to the rugby club. Refreshments were served in the club house. Results are available on www.totaltiming.ie This is the first race organised by the newly formed club and overall the organisation was very good. In particular the stewarding of the R402 was very good ensuring the safety of all participants.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Over 100,000 migrants and refugees have entered Greece this year. Caritas Greece has launched an emergency aid programme to help cover the urgent needs of the newcomers.
The Refugee Programme of Caritas Athens provides assistance in various ways, including distribution of clothes and food, counselling sessions from social workers, language lessons and a children’s playroom.
