Mercoledì 22 giugno 2022 nella storica Aula Scarpa si è chiusa la quarta edizione del Programma Foundation Year Program dell’Università di Pavia.
Il programma prevede un corso di lingua italiana della durata di 9 mesi, strutturato su più livelli, e 4 corsi erogati in italiano caratterizzanti aree di studio scientifica, umanistica ed economico-giuridica. Si rivolge a studenti che non soddisfano il requisito dei 12 anni di scolarità o altri requisiti curriculari per l’accesso a un corso di laurea in Italia e a coloro che sono interessati ad acquisire o a migliorare la competenza linguistica in italiano in preparazione ad un percorso universitario in Italia.
Sono 130 gli studenti che hanno partecipato per l’anno 2021-2022 provenienti da oltre 40 Paesi del Mondo. Fra questi anche 11 studenti iracheni appartenenti al Programma Future Builders patrocinato da ENI Corporate University, grazie a una collaborazione con l’Università degli Studi di Pavia e la Fondazione Alma Mater Ticinensis.
L’edizione 2021-22 ha segnato il ritorno alla didattica in presenza, seppur non esclusivamente, dopo oltre un anno di didattica interamente online.
La cerimonia di chiusura è stata l’occasione per celebrare il risultato ottenuto. Sono ben 40 coloro che hanno richiesto ammissione a un corso dell’Università di Pavia per il 2022-2023 e che contribuiranno a incrementare la popolazione universitaria straniera dell’Ateneo.

Neste fim de semana, uma obra em grafite coletiva foi realizada em um muro de aproximadamente 50 metros, na Rua Silvianópolis, no Bairro Santa Tereza. A obra, fruto do Programa Gentileza, da Prefeitura de Belo Horizonte, tem como tema a história e elementos culturais do tradicional bairro, situado na região leste da capital.

The European University Cyprus Orientation Program is designed to welcome new students to the University community, facilitating the process of settling into a new and unfamiliar environment. Orientation days are organized every semester, two weeks prior to the beginning of classes. Faculty and staff are on hand to show students around campus, advise on University policies and regulations, and discuss the selection of courses.

Phoenix Program was an intelligence and counterinsurgency program designed to gather, analyze information and then “neutralize” (via capture, infiltration, torture, terrorism, and assassination) the infrastructure of the Viet Cong (National Liberation Front) in South Vietnam.
Phoenix was operated and executed under the direction of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) supported by U.S. Special Operation Forces, Special Forces Operatives from Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (AATIV), and South Vietnam’s security services.
Although the program came to an end in December 1972, specific components remained in effect until Saigon fell in 1975.
By 1972, Phoenix operatives had neutralized 81,740 suspected NLF operatives, informants, and supporters, of whom 26,000 and 41,000 were killed. Name of Program: Housing reconstruction program after Gorkha Earthquake

This is a frame consisting of cast in situ Reinforced Cement Concrete beams and columns with strong beam column joint. Floor and roof framing consists of cast-in-situ concrete slabs. These buildings usually have brick masonry infill. In Nepal, some of the RCC buildings are Non-engineered, some are engineered, and some are Pre-Engineered type. These non-engineered RCC buildings generally fails in earthquake due to lack of ductility, redundancy, and appropriate configuration of the building. If these three points are maintained in the building, the building performs very well in the earthquake.
Nepal suffered a massive loss of lives and property on Saturday 25 April 2015, when the devastating magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck Nepal. Subsequent aftershocks, including one of magnitude 7.3 near the Chinese border on 12 May, produced additional losses of life and property.
The earthquake triggered avalanches on Mount Everest and in the Langtang valley. Villages were flattened and people were made homeless across 31 districts, with 14 districts suffering the highest impact. Infrastructure was damaged throughout the earthquake zone. Historic neighborhoods and heritage sites were destroyed in the Kathmandu Valley.
As a result of the earthquake, 8,790 people died and more than 22,300 people were injured. Assessments showed that at least 498,852 private houses and 2,656 government buildings were destroyed. Another 256,697 private houses and 3,622 government buildings were partially damaged. In addition, 19,000 classrooms were destroyed and 11,000 damaged.
The earthquake affected manufacturing, production, and trade in agriculture as well as tourism and other areas of the service sector, thereby weakening the national economy. Economic growth fell in 2015 and has picked up slowly 2016. Once fully underway, reconstruction should contribute to economic growth in the coming years.
According to initial estimates arrived at during the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA), NPR 669 billion would be required to reconstruct damaged properties and infrastructure and to support recovery in affected sectors of the economy.
