Sunny, sleepy morning July 21, 2016

Very close to the border between Poland and Chech Republic. A mountain resort a bit forgotten after the break up of the kommunist regime. This charming square is not spoilt by modernity and I will provide more information once I have made a print later this summer.

13 x 18 cm

The construction of the camera doea not allow for much movement so pretty heavy vignetting is often present. Not that I mind it it is however not the limitation of the lens. I now found a replacement for this camera, a half plate Imperial Thornton Pickard which will take over for this purpose, travels in Poland.

This is a photo in two parts because I couldn't get back far enough to capture the whole thing in one shot. This is an installation for the Culture Crawl preview show. I'm trying to demonstrate the process of making an altered book.

12 of 20: Suppress light pollution colour

Steps 12 to 14 were adjusted together to fine tune values, and work together as a team to suppress the light pollution, but displayed seperately here.

The light pollution in the sky responds extremely strongly to the Yellow slider, but there is very little change to the rest of the image. By darkening yellow by a large amount, the intensity of the light pollution is greatly reduced.

Although shown as step 12, in reality it required a lot of tweaking together with the following two steps to arrive at these final values. The extremely steep tone curve from step 10 is hiding the effect of this adjustment - we just need to reduce the background luminance a bit in the next two steps to smash that light pollution.

A tutorial on shooting the Milky Way in an urban environment with lots of light pollution. Processed entirely within LightRoom CC. Better results can be achieved in PhotoShop CC, using more precise filters and masks, but requiring more effort.

I don't know how this happened but isn't it wonderful? This is why I love film! try do this with a digital point and shoot lol :-) shot on paddy's day 17/03/12.

An Exploration of modern food through new sculpture. Sculpture, Senior Exhibition.

The Granite Room

My current work addresses the production of food in modern American society. From factory farming to locally raised produce, I seek to explore what may be one of the most pressing issues of our time in a lighthearted and approachable manner. It is widely acknowledged that the industrialization of food manufacturing has transformed the lives, habits, and bodies of Americans, as well as alerted the way that most of our society thinks-or doesn’t think-about where food comes from and what food is. I create digitally fabricated representations of animals that are engineered and produced, and may have more in common with products or raw materials than other living creatures. These animals, which are designed, fabricated and then placed on assembly lines that guide their existence from inception to processing, include chickens, cows, pigs, and fish. My work is also concerned with edible plants and their role in our lives both historically and presently. Plants as well as animals are now being generated inside laboratories, and travel unimaginable distances to reach our supermarkets and tables. This is a marvel of human technology and global society as well as a complex system that may need re-working if humanity is to move toward a sustainable future.

I hope that I can put what goes onto your plate into your thoughts as well.
