Cheers Mike for being my subject...

Expired ektacrome, processed in C-41

Post processed with Lightroom 3 + Photoshop CS5 + Photomatix Pro 4 + Nik Color Efex

Very happy with how this one turned out. It's a single image HDR with a little extra enhancement from Nik (coloring in the leaves a tiny bit).

Thanks to Matthew Osborne for the original shots.

Just got my new (old) Ciba rotary processor!! Can't wait to develop some colour tonight!

Clearly over-processed but there is something in the exaggerated glow on the trees that intrigues me.

Best spot ever to work

This is a shot of author Pat McManus I shot earlier this spring. I StumbledUpon an online Photoshop CS3 tutorial recreating the Cross-Processing effect. Back in the days of film, chemistry was a big deal. Each individual film stock had precise chemistry and processing recipes that had to be followed to generate the desired look. Occasionally, photographers would have happy mistakes where they followed the wrong recipe for particular emulsion. Colors would shift dramatically, grain would enlarge.

This is my attempt at recreating the effect. I had to tweak the tutorial a little bit . I think it looks like a lot like The Matrix. I recreated a film frame too.

strangely the only photo i have so far of the bristolians trip up north. i completely forgot to use my digital camera, and the rest appear to be stuck at the beginning of a roll of B&W thats still in my camera. oh well - something to look forward to :)

First attempts of digital cross-processing

It's not just another picture of me, sitting at my desk - it's a proof-of-concept picture as well! I might start a set for pictures of me, sitting at my desk.

So this projects was my final project for my degree, its a self initiated project about the design process.

to cut a long story short i made up three things i really believe in about design. these were as follows:

Process is just as important as product

Design is a labour of love

and One amalgamation of things i

believe design should be.

all these three things were created using three different process, three which i really enjoy doing being:

Screen printing

Hand Drawing

Digital

These were then all documented from intial ideas to production to try to give people a greater appreciation for design and the design process.

The Videos for each of these pieces will be up soon!

This was the book i created to document each piece in print form, the book is french folded with screenshots in a contact sheet format to try to get people to understand what is inside a design. The front pages are just key points through the initial, development, production stages.

Processo de criação de dança partindo de luz e espelho.

Even though we have a process for determining our mission trip location each year in many ways the location for this year’s trip was decided nearly six months before we made our ‘official’ decision. It was En route for Mission Trip 2011 to Rockford, IL that we saw firsthand the devastation of Joplin, MO from the devastating tornado that occurred on May 22, 2011. Our hearts were immediately drawn to Joplin, and our desire to help, was strengthened by the personal and family connection many of us have in and around the area. It was the logical choice for our service.

Preparing for Mission Trip is an involved process that starts months in advance. We pray. Study. Raise money. And learn about our trip location, the situation, and of course, build our teams.

Our host for this trip was Mission Academy who arranged our housing, meals, and work projects. Our home base for the week was near Joplin in the town of Miami (pronounced my-am-uh,) Oklahoma. We stayed at New Life, Church of the Nazarene where the Pastor and entire congregation were incredible generous with their place of worship.

While all our projects were not directly related to the tornado of 2011, they were worthy projects we felt proud to participate in, and projects we quickly realized God called us to do. We were introduced to a family in Picher, Oklahoma who lost their home in an F5 tornado that happened in 2008. This family has struggled to rebuild their home and lives for the past four years! Their story is one most of us cannot even imagine. When we arrived their home was framed with a roof. Two of our teams spent the week insulating the entire home and putting up drywall in the living room and a couple bedrooms. Our other two worksites were in Joplin proper with one team putting up new siding on a home ruined by the tornado. The other team cleaned and restored two sheds to get them into a usable condition for the homeowner.

Our faith community at AUMC not only teaches us, but also leads us on our path of discipleship. And our generous sponsors support us financially. Without all of you our trip and good work would not have been possible.

Please accept our thanks for making this wonderful Mission Trip to Joplin possible.

We hope you will enjoy our slideshow and that it gives you a small glimpse of God’s kingdom building.

For all of you, who are able, please save the date and join us for our Sponsors’ Dinner on Sunday, August 5th at 6pm.

Thanks be to God,
