Heavily processed picture of a flower outside of a very nice restaurant in Folsom, California.

Original photograph shot with a Diana+ lens on a DSLR. Image has had its pixels reordered based on both sorting rules (example: sort based on red channel intensity) and more general cellular automata inspired rules.

The salt solution is decanted off the rock chips which are then placed overnight in a freezer. There has to be room around the chips for expansion as the salt freezes. This is the critical part - the rapid freezing creates very small crystals in the pore spaces that gently blow the rock apart and break down the structure - hopefully without damaging the microfossils.

Experimenting with more extreme processing in Lightroom than I might normally be comfortable with. This was actually shot at ISO 1600, at sunset, in the shadow of a large hill.

after the tallow has been rendered the oil left over is nearly clear, and will start to smoke ever so slightly. at this point you want to remove it from the heat, and let it cool. and after that, pour it into containers for storage. The large mass being held is the crisps, or what is left of the fat, minus the tallow, and water.
