The symphony of sound has begun as these amazing insects emerge from their underground development, crawling up through the hard soil wearing their hard, brown armored shell, After the shell splits down the back, the cicada slowly pulls itself free, sits still on a plant or tree trunk to dry it's wings, then flies off on it's single goal, to find a mate.
