A few weeks ago Juniper had a plugged salivary gland under her tongue causing it to stick out the side of her mouth and she couldn't eat. The gland was enlarged and about the size of a marble!
My vet had to go in through the side of her neck and remove the: lymph node, salivary gland, and mandibular gland. He removed them because the plugged gland is commonly caused by cancer and removing those glands removes most of the possibility of cancer. We sent them in for a biopsy and it was NOT cancer. Yay!
I didn't mean to shave her whiskers while I was shaving her neck for surgery, I hope they grow back!
