Soms gaat alles niet zoals je verwacht dat gaat. De 1824 zou vandaag deze trein gaan ophalen in Zutphen vanaf Amersfoort, alleen door een technisch probleem strandde deze loc bij Stroe. De 1740 werd opgetrommeld als reddende engel, maar niet van de 1824, maar als vervanger van deze loc. Zo kwam het dat ik 2 uur te vroeg langs het spoor stond en weer huiswaarts kon gaan. De dienstregeling was met +120 opgeschoven. Dat gaf me wel de gelegenheid om een andere plek te zoeken.
De loc zou dus eerst los van Amersfoort naar Zutphen gaan, daar de trein aanhaken, naar Deventer Goederenemplacement rijden, omlopen en weer terug naar Zutphen en dan verder naar Roosendaal. De logica ontgaat mij daarvan, maar het zal vast iets met omlopen in Zutphen te maken hebben, dat dat daar niet kan.
Enfin, voor mij alleen maar beter. Ik had bedacht in de boog bij Joppe te gaan staan, daar zou de zon rond 15 uur mooi staan. Helaas had ik mij dus een uur vergist, want de passage was 14u en de zon was verdwenen achter de wolken. Ook is er bij de overweg van de Flierderweg geen eer meer te behalen aan het maken van een mooie foto omdat er opeens allemaal rare borden, electrakasten en hekken geplaatst zijn. Dat was hier nog niet het geval.
Gelukkig was ik met de auto en had ik bij hoge uitzondering een trap bij me zodat ik langs de beek (Fliert) richting het spoor kon lopen en met de trap iets hoger kon staan. Wel jammer van de vieze nette schoenen die ik aan had (faal), maar je moet er wat voor over hebben. Door gebrek aan een zonnetje een vrij fletse foto helaas en wellicht ook niet helemaal scherp, maar ik ben er content mee.
Hier rijdt de trein bij Joppe richting Zutphen met meerdere geluidssignalen.

Für den kleinen Gartenbaumläufer war es gar nicht so einfach zurück zum Nest zu fliegen, da die Sicht durch das Nistmatieral stark eingeschränkt war.
For the little treecreeper it was not so easy to fly back to the nest, because the visibility was strongly limited by the nesting material.

Tweede bijzondere trein van die dag was het Spoorwegmuseum, die vanuit Utrecht de Mat '36 252 gingen ophalen in Blerick.
Na noeste arbeid van de vrijwilligers aldaar, was dit treinstel weer helemaal presentatieklaar gemaakt voor de tentoonstelling "Onder hoogspanning", waarbij dit treinstel het pronkstuk zal zijn.
Helaas waren er problemen met een lager bij de roltesten en werd er besloten die dag geen transport plaats te laten vinden.
Wel reden de 273 en 386 een rondje door Nederland, waarbij op de heenweg een postwagen meegenomen werd naar Blerick (tja als je dat niet weet, kan je het ook niet vastleggen niet waar).
Hier passeren de 386 en 273 over de spoorbrug, richting het Maliebaanstation.

ONR train 207 rerailed after hitting a rural road crossing thick with packed down snow and ice jumping a unit off the rails.
Amtrak Dash 8 510 leads the northbound Coast Starlight out of Portland, an hour and 37 minutes late. The presence of the P42 in the pepsi can scheme is somewhat ironic, a scheme (once) unique to the Dash 8 trailing behind a Dash 8 in regular colors. Irony aside, I was happy to get a better shot of a Dash 8 leading, not to mention happy to get out of the house after spending 3 weeks sick with mononucleosis. This was one of the first things I did after getting over the illness, and just walking around outside and climbing up ballast had me huffing and puffing, funny how 3 weeks of being bed ridden will do that to you. Considering Amtrak's ongoing equipment problems and the unreliability of the new Siemens equipment, I really don't think this is the last time we'll see this.

Vanwege problemen met de normale 189'ers uit de 28x reeks van TXL werden er bij uitzondering Italiaans geschikte 189'ers ingezet. Voordeel van deze serie is dat er een aantal leuke exemplaren tussen zitten zoals de Paardenloc 189 997. Op zondag reed de 189 989 de Numushuttle zoals we hier zien bij Haaften.

All this makes you wish you were on a well-maintained bus.

These two kits were playing together and the kit that is standing seen the other kit from the den take off and sit on top of a big rock. The other kit grabbed it by the tail. Watching these kits play sure takes your mind off all the problems we are having with the Corona Virus.

After a mammoth 4 day private charter from Euston to Kyle of Lochalsh which involved bringing the ECS from Crewe, 40145 rests on the blocks at Euston, just in case that slipped through without a reaction here is 40145 resting on the blocks at Euston !.
Her involvement with the tour was to bring the ECS from Crewe to Euston on Friday and to spend the weekend at Wembley Yard before bringing in the final leg of the 0810 York to Euston from Wembley back into Euston on Monday.
The lighting was sumptuous and I have no problem with posting a traditional 1980s style 3/4 view of 40145 at Euston.

Going to Havasu Falls, Supai Indian Village, a gem I dreamed about, was just around the corner to become true. The trail to Supai, Arizona, is beautiful and begins at Hualapai Hilltop. We spent the night in our car at the Hilltop to hit the trail to Havasu Falls at 6 AM. Honestly, I should say we tried to sleep, but we could not! We did not have enough space to stretch our legs, it was uncomfortable, yet we laughed from inconveniences a lot! So how can you sleep if you keep laughing? The excitement took a toll on us, but that was not the only problem! We had a rented SUV, and it kept us awake too! Yes! Every so often the dashboard lights would come on. Draining the battery was the last ting we wanted to happen, but we managed to take care of it. It was cold and very windy, and having extra clothes really helped. ...More to come...
A bonus "Friday Face" this week. I don't understand Japanese. However, it was quite possible to interpret what was going on in this photo.
I saw the passenger get up from her seat, but too late to get off the train at her stop. She had probably nodded off as so many people do on Japanese public transport. She walked down the train to find the conductress. The conductress very politely invited her to sit down opposite us and came back a couple of minutes later with information that she should get off at a particular station to connect with a service going the opposite way. Something was then written on the ticket which I imagine gave the lady a free ride back down the line.
