Horizon Zero Dawn is an action role-playing video game developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Story is set in the 31st century, in a world where humans have regressed to primitive tribal societies as a result of some unknown calamity. Their technologically advanced predecessors are vaguely remembered as the "Old Ones." Large robotic creatures known merely as "machines" now dominate the Earth. For the most part, they peacefully coexist with humans, who occasionally hunt them for parts. However, a phenomenon known as the "Derangement" has caused machines to become more aggressive towards humans, and larger and deadlier machines have begun to appear. There are three tribes that are prominently featured: the Nora, the Carja, and the Oseram. The Nora are fierce hunter-gatherers who live in the mountains and worship nature as the "All-Mother." The Carja are desert-dwelling city builders who worship the Sun. The Oseram are tinkerers known for their metalworking, brewing, and arguing. Aloy was cast out from the Nora tribe at birth, raised by an outcast named Rost (JB Blanc). As a child, she obtained a Focus, a small augmented reality device that gives her special perceptive abilities. After coming of age, Aloy (Ashly Burch) enters a competition called the Proving to win the right to become a Nora Brave, and by extension, a member of the Nora tribe. Aloy wins the competition, but the Nora are suddenly attacked by cultists. Aloy is almost killed by their leader Helis (Crispin Freeman), but is saved by Rost, who sacrifices himself to save Aloy from a bomb. When Aloy awakes, a Matriarch explains that the cultists had gained control of corrupted machines. Aloy also learns that as an infant, she was found at the foot of a sealed door. An Oseram foreigner called Olin (Chook Sibtain) informs Aloy that the cultists are part of a group calling themselves the Eclipse. Olin indicates that the reason Aloy was targeted by the Eclipse was due to her resemblance to an Old World scientist named Dr. Elisabet Sobeck (also voiced by Burch).

Bog River Flow -- A connected series of wilderness ponds which are quite remote and offer amazing paddling and primitive camping. Definitely a choice destination for me.

St Paul Primitive Baptist Church. These chairs are located behind the pulpit in an abandoned and collapsing church in Terrell County, Georgia. This old church is decaying away due to a hole in the roof that was never repaired. Half of the floor has rotted away along with pews that were left inside. The calendar in the background is a mystery. It is from 2012. I can't imagine why someone left a new calendar in a building that could not have been used in a long time.

If one were to venture down the Lower Gorge of Old Man's Cave, you would eventually enter the picturesque valley of Queer Creek. At the point where Old Man's Creek merges with Queer Creek, the trail takes an abrupt turn east and enters this new valley. The trail leading to Cedar Falls passes through the most austere area in Hocking Hills. This remote, primitive chasm is laden with hemlock and bound by steep rock walls and their accompanying grottos and waterfalls. It is a wild and lonely but spectacularly beautiful place.

Cedar Falls itself is the greatest waterfall in terms of volume in the Hocking region. Queer Creek tumbles over the face of the Blackhand sandstone displaying the awesome force of water power.

In the mid 1800's, a grist mill was built above the falls to utilize this water power for grinding grain.

Cedar Falls was misnamed by early white settlers who mistook the stately hemlocks for Cedars. A well kept picnic area and restrooms are located in the parking area above the falls.

The colorful primitive art paintings at the Casa Taller Víctor Delfin in the Barranco district of Lima, Perú, are bold and dramatic.

4. Used balsa wood, leftover trim (Michael's), thick mat board (Hobby Lobby), and Popsicle sticks to add faux drawer fronts, doors, details and construct the shelves. Used leftover dollhouse siding for the feet. Attached everything with tacky craft glue.

5. Held in place with painters tape while things dried. It helps everything to stay square and dry tightly/flat.

Pals, I might not be online the next few days as we're heading down south to Carmel and Big Sur tomorrow, and don't think we'll have any net access. Hope you all have a good week! :-)

Using this pointillism painted dots method again :) There really is something just so freeing about spending so much time editing a photo then at the end just going crazy and painting freaking colored dots everywhere. Feels good to let loose and be painterly every once in a while!

This tire shop is located in the town of Shiprock, New Mexico, USA. Shipwreck (Navajo: Naatʼáanii Nééz) is located at an elevation of 4,900 feet on the Navajo reservation. Shiprock is named after the nearby rock formation of "Shiprock" (see above). The population of 8,200 is almost entirely Native American (97%).

A few motion pictures have been filmed at Shiprock. The 1987 film Made in U.S.A. starring Adrian Pasdar, Chris Penn and Lori Singer. Paramount's 1994 film Pontiac Moon starring Ted Danson was partially shot here. Shiprock was one of the filming locations for the 1994 crime film Natural Born Killers. The 2002 film Rocks With Wings follows the Navajo members of the Lady Chieftains, the girls' basketball team from Shiprock High School, as they struggle with a new (black) coach, their own expectations, and those of their community and the "Anglo" world around them.

Primitive Road …. somewhere in the center of Washington State.

So , I'm back from 10 day trip crossing Washington State all the way to Idaho and Oregon borders. I'm very pleasantly surprised how beautiful and diverse is this state. From the 4 feet of snow around North Cascades , to semi desert of Southern Okanagan , to magical colors and shapes Palouse hills , to mist of Mount Rainier …. great trip , great company , thousands of images.

BTW , Paul just reminded me , right on the other side of this sign was ... birdhouse :-) !!!!
