Primitive Methodist Chapel in the heart of the Forest of Dean, captured in IR.

[Explored Jul 30, 2024 #209]

Primitive Farm Tools used in India

Created for Hypothetical Awards' Digital Art From a Blank Canvas challenge.

This started as a colored rectangle on a white background layer. I distorted the rectangle using the smudge tool in Photoshop until I had an amoeba-like shape. (I wanted softer edges than the liquefy tool would have produced.) I then added two more distorted rectangles on separate layers (one of which you can see below) and changed the blend mode for all to Difference.

I changed the background white to a complementary color and combined all the layers. I then used the Hue/Saturation tool to play with colors until the original blues and greens became what you see above. The texture in the green/brown sections came from super-saturating the green hues.

At that point, I was very tempted to use FilterForge to produce all kinds of spectacular morphs, but I resisted the temptation ... almost: I used it to texture the background and add the vignette.

The result is a fairly simplistic, but colorful, abstract.

[...] There was much in such a society that was primitive and insecure and it certainly could never measure up to the demands of the present epoch. But in such a society are contained the seeds of revolutionary democracy in which none will be held in slave [...]
