Playing around with my bandaged Rei Ayanami Revoltech figure and my Konata figma, and found that I could prettymuch fit Konata's head on Rei's body and it didn't look half bad!!!

Konata Ayanami, the custom Revoltech/Figma figure appeared in the article at: www.runaroundkazu.com/2009/04/konata-ayanami.html

Since adopting Jude, I’ve heard a LOT of people say, “He’s so beautiful! I want a Blue Bay Shepherd, too!”

Let me be perfectly clear here: No. You probably don’t.

Jude is good at walking politely on the leash, is exceptionally affectionate toward humans of all ages, loves Blackjack (my cat) like a brother, and plays well with a few other dogs, but there are a slue of issues Jude has which make him difficult to deal with, and he’s not the only BBS who exhibits these problems. Carefully reading owner testimonials has exposed that many of said issues are not unique.

Jude is an escape artist. He can unlock both front doors, has chewed through steel cables to open the back of my truck, and has bent the wire mesh on the goat pen to wiggle underneath it. I’ve now just discovered that he can also fit through the damned cat door.

His ability to escape from an array of different places has been both frustrating and fascinating. It also perfectly illustrates why I do not recommend the Blue Bay Shepherd (or any wolfdog) as a good companion animal for anyone without experience in training/living with large-breed ‘difficult’ dogs.

Jude may not have been bred as a working dog like Cabal, and his energy level is generally more manageable than Cabal’s is; but Jude is nevertheless very high-maintenance and cannot be left unattended unless he’s tied up or secured in the dog run - to which we have had to make several improvements because he’s been finding all the weak spots as fast as we can fix them.

He’s not the best when it comes to meeting new dogs, either, especially un-neutered males. He is perfectly okay with Cabal, fixed submissive males, and with prettymuch all female dogs, but I generally opt to decline when people ask if they can introduce their pup to Jude. He has never attacked another dog, and plays fabulously with those he deems likable, but it’s always a tense moment when an off-leash dog comes barreling up to us on the beach, as I never know how Jude will react.

Contrary to what I was initially told by his previous owners, Jude’s prey drive is indeed quite strong, and while he avoids the farm animals under my supervision, is not afraid to chase the goats and chickens when he thinks no one is watching. Even so, he is great with Blackjack, and other BBS owners seem to have been able to socialize their dogs to cats, as well. He apparently regards cats as weird micro-dogs, whereas all other small critters are chew toys.

On the topic of chew toys - Blue Bays are mouthy bastards. I discovered quite quickly that Jude is VERY mouthy, even at two years of age.

He’d done this funny thing before, where he would take my hand gently in his mouth and lead me around, and I thought it was quite amusing, until he started jumping on me to grab my hand back when I took it out of his mouth. This escalated to him grabbing my forearm quite firmly; he wasn’t trying to do damage - if he wanted to, he’d have no doubt snapped my bones like dry twigs - but it was enough to leave four matching bruises - two on each side of my arm - and large welts where his teeth had clamped down.

Thankfully, Cabal was there to reprimand Jude for this transgression: He grabbed Jude’s scruff and threw him to the ground, then stood over him and made a big show about sniffing Jude’s crotch. He let Jude up after Jude averted his gaze, and the two went about playing as if nothing had happened. But Jude remembered Cabal’s warning and hasn’t jumped up on me like that since. I still don’t know how that situation would have unfolded if not for Cabal’s interference.

With all this negativity out of the way, I want to assure you that Jude is still a wonderful companion for Andrew and myself, largely in part because I work from home and am able to spend more time with Jude than his previous owner did. And Andrew, who grew up raising a 110-pound St. Bernard/pitbull mix, is good at setting the ground rules for Jude when he decides to overstep his bounds. Jude seems to thrive now that he’s got some structure to follow.

Since adopting Jude, he’s made exceptional improvements in his behavior, but he is still a work-in-progress, and likely will need constant reinforcement in his training throughout his entire life.

This means that he will get better, yes, but we will never be able to let our guard down around Jude.

So no - aside from the fact that breeding designer dogs like BBSs is downright stupid, and buying from the breeder who creates them will only further support that stupidity, you really don’t want a Blue Bay Shepherd, especially if the reason you want one is because you simply think they’re pretty.

Red Hot Moon is a song by Rancid, one of my favorite bands. I really like this song, cuz despite sad lyrics, the general mood of the music is upbeat and posative. Street punk girl, lost to herself...searching for something, though with no idea as to what said something is. Long before I ever knew the lyrics to Red Hot Moon, I was prettymuch just the same. And I sometimes think that just maybe I still am: No direction, no home. Just me, and this wonderful little world I live in.

KC's from Campbell, California

She's got a reputation that she didn't ask for

And she's waiting for an escape now

That escape is called the 164

Now KC, she don't want to admit where she is from

And KC, she wants to run run run

She's a punk rocker, she don't trust no one

On a South Bay bus all alone

Under the red hot moon

take the bus downtown to the graveyard shift tonight

KC was never caught up

like the rest of the rats in a fucking maze

"Check me out," she said, "I'm in a concrete jungle,

I'm an individual and you are stuck in a haze

Oh hell no, she knows what the truth is,

'cause she says so, and she knows who her friends are,

so fuck you, don't get no closer,

it will only make her run far away

Under the red hot moon

take the bus downtown to the graveyard shift tonight

I knew KC's brother pretty well

Let's say we spent a lot of time hanging out

I always thought and so did he that she'd be the one

To get out of here and make a life for herself

But when we found her in the little league park

In the dugouts, it was cold, damp and dark

And no one knew why she wouldn't wake up

I think she finally made it back home

Under the red hot moon

take the bus downtown to the graveyard shift tonight

Ramlila -- a street stage play of the mythology Ramayana. Primary characters mostly enacted by kids who barely have their mustaches growing out. Sponsored by the Maharaja of Kashi this play takes momentum for almost a month. The final day culminates with an Aarti by the Maharaja at the first break of the dawn.

So what madness to do with this?

Well to watch this event people gather at the grounds by around 3am prettymuch sleep out in the grounds to get the prime viewing spot. The character in their full costume were ready on the stage by 3am. The dawn broke at 6am by then the place entire place was so packed that even if one moved then there was a wave effect among the crowd.

All this for a glimpse of the Kashi Naresh, a 5 minute Aarti

if this is not madness wonder what it takes for that !!

Videomash. I prettymuch biked everywhere.

Home- Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Well, I lied about the lineup order for photos. I'm about a month behind. And I'm moving out in two weeks, so I'm starting to feel the pressure. It's obviously not enough to keep me from having some fun, though.

So I met up with some friends at the bus stop and we made our way to this year's PDX Pop Now festival near the Bunrside Bridge in Portland on Saturday. It's a three-day long event, but due to extreme heat and a hectic agenda, I only got to go one day.

Morning Teleportation was playing when we arrived. I almost got hit by the drummer's drumstick when he threw it into the crowd at the end of concert. He said I could keep it. Got a free CD, too, after pouncing on one which fell to the floor when someone else missed the catch. Thanks (insert name) for not stepping on my camera....or me.

Like last year's festival, this one could prettymuch be summed up in only two words: "Simply AWESOME!"

Portland, I will miss you.

They had on masks. Masks! Condi, Rove, Cheney, Bush, etc. Their jumpsuits are from the Virginia Psych Ward or something.

the hairdresser was running late by the time she got to doing my hair, wound up getting this out of half an hour which was prettymuch exactly what I had in mind.

I forgot I had a bomber of Racer 5 in the fridge. Nice!

Racer 5 is prettymuch an A#1 American IPA. It's got a great hazy copper colour, a crisp smell of hops, and a flavour that's nice enough on its own, but also pairs well with heartier proteins. I rather enjoy this with a burger, or sushi (blue fin, salmon, and eel mostly… some of the lighter fish get overpowered). there is a really good balance of a hoppy/citrus (although NOT like Ruby)/floral quality with a hint of peat. It's also got a good alcohol content at 7%, so you can have a few without getting totally hammered. Just be sure to take your time.

Like most IPAs, I prefer this on the warmer side, so I set this out after removing it from my fridge. If you're lucky enough to find this on draught, wrap your hands around the glass awhile after getting served (I've found most US bars serve their beer a bit too cold).

If you like beers like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, this is *vastly* superior in every conceivable way. Try it, if you haven't. I was able to find it at the Whole Foods near my office in NYC.

Had to snap this last night when in the middle of working I looked around and realised this is prettymuch my ideal desk setup and the combination of elements is a pretty great summation of the elements of myself.

B&W conversion of one of the slightly more successful shots. See below, and previous shot, for details.

This is RA4 paper shot in-camera, developed first in Ilford multigrade B&W developer, re-exposed, and then developed in RA4. Another fail unfortunately, I have the colour correction prettymuch down, but they're overexposed. Fundamental problem is that even in good light the exposure times are about 1 to 2 minutes. So it's useless for portrait work. This is Ljiljana doing her best to sit still for an entire minute and a half but I think it's impossible. I think I might just go back to straight RA4 paper negatives and abandon attempts to reversal process them.

Hey my 35mm arrived.

thats just how i've been feeling lately. completly wound as tight as possible. lots of stress over exams=no fun for me

Up against the wall and distracted- prettymuch nails today. Feeling massively restless which will be eased a great deal tomorrow by the long drive. For now loud music is helping while I get some work done.

These articles have been tiring, having to learn so that I can edit them properly without losing any of the original meaning. An average of 10-15,000 words a day is a lot to take in.

A green hilly view, lovely deck and a fast car. Prettymuch an ideal scene.

The backs of the shirts. Lisa has 'sloppy vaginas for peace' on hers and Eireann has 'the only true tang..is pootang' on hers. Some old lady asked her what pootang was. It was hilarious. Until the people behind us called us dykes. Which was kind of weird.
