I bought Jill a visit to the Shard for Christmas last year.. Today was the first time we were able to get to go and visit!

An advantage of Covid was that it was very quiet, no crowds and no queues! ;)

It ws great to be up there again and for Jill to be able to go for her first time! The weather was kind too!!

A belated christmas pressie (thanks Ben!). I haven't messed around with film for a long time, not since before I even knew how cameras work, so I'm looking forward to a lot of playing with this. It's already taken up residence in the man bag.

This is a painting that was made from one of my favourite photos from 2015. As some of you know I was trying to get a shot of a Kingfisher for years and then got very lucky over a short period of time, the patience eventually paid off. Jo had this painted for my birthday and I'm chuffed to bits with it.

Plum is totally rocking her new headphones. (They were an early holiday present from me to her. ^__^)

A Christmas pressie to her. She is my oldest friend so i figured it was high time she got a quilt out of me!

All squares are 2.5"

Not the best pic but it was dark and dreary.

Something festive... chanelling @lizsteel with the pink set up lines :)

I'd like to introduce Ethereal, my one and only Jerry Berry dolly. <3 She arrived today and is a pressie from Shawn for our (upcoming) ten year anniversary together. I've loved Jerry Berry dolls for a long while and I was waiting for the perfect release until I ordered one... Sure enough, I saw Jerry Berry's ad for their limited edition Summer Song Birds dolls: I fell head over heels in love! I actually loved both the Jerry and Berry versions, but I'm always drawn to the mystic/sleepy eyes. In fact, every single BJD I've ever owned has been a mystic eyed girl.

Ethereal is part angel, part star. She fell down from the heavens and became tangled in a web of gossamer delicately hanging between a ring of trees in an open, empty field. No one knows why she fell or exactly how she'll manage to overcome the tragedy of becoming so lost in this world, but she truly believes she'll find her way... someday. To make herself feel more at home, Ethereal is known to carry with her a pretty little box full of stardust from her home in the heavens.

(If you're familiar with this limited Jerry Berry release, you know that she has stars painted in her eyes. Everything on her face is beautifully hand painted, actually. <3 I'll post a closeup photo of them later on.)

Trice *swoon* :)

Third and last pressie from my sis... Sisterly love big time!

The ex-partner-in-crime didn't have a clue what to get me for Xmas, but when we were passing a local charity shop I went in for a sniff about and found an absolutely gorgeous bodice at a bargain price (He is also borassic at the mo.). He was rifling through the books so I went over and said 'I really, really like this top and if I was to get it for Xmas I'd be very happy' *cough* I went on to say that I was popping to the shop next door but was leaving the top on the rail over there, and then walked over and pointedly left it right at the end of the rail.

As I left the shop I saw him looking right at it and walking towards it so I thought 'Yay! Finally I get a pressie that I really do like and it also won't break the bank, woohoo!'

Imagine my surprise on Xmas day when I opened up a parcel to find a Disney Princess dress made for Ages 10 - 12...

He told me he didn't see where I put the top, but he knew I liked velvety things and he knew I was a size 10.

Luckily, we went back today and not only was the top still there, but the very nice lady swapped it over for us even though he hadn't kept the reciept.

But bless him, he did try...

Day 184 of 365 Days, and for the December MSH - Er...did you keep the reciept?

A mother's day pressie for myself. I'm not sure I love it, I think it's a little floppy. May need to make another sturdier one. Maybe with fusible pellon?

I do love the way the County Fair yellow goes with the Picnic & Fairgrounds mustard flower print (in the lining).

Pattern:

Jane Market Bag

(I made it 1" shorter so I could make the best of my FQ cuts and inserted the straps into the lining)

Fabric:

Denyse Schmidt County Fair

Denyse Schmidt Picnic & Fairgrounds (AUS)

You can read about the original pressie here.

I think this suits me rather better.

For the June MSH - An item of clothing that makes you feel good! (Please read the story above for a laugh, btw!)

Day 189 of 365 Days

TED: "While I wuz in Pefkos on me holibobs I popped into Jewels & Jewels to see me ole mate Agapitos an' his wife Indré. They run this reely cool shop where I do me shoppin' fer charms fer me nomination bracelet (I likes me bling!).

Look what Agapitos gave me! It's a "I love Rhodes" charm fer me bracelet!! He's sooo nice an' kind, and a reel good friend! He gave me a Greek eye bead to pin on me shorts too, but Mum put it on me necklace so I woodent lose it. Yew can see it roun' me neck in this piccy."

This rather serious little girl is identified as "Mary Pressie" written in pencil on the back of this albumen photograph. If you look closely behind her, you will see the feet of the posing stand that was used to make her hold perfectly still while her picture was being taken.

The beautiful flowered and be-ribboned straw hat leaning against the rustic fence is possibly a photographer's studio prop.

"Mrs. Waldack" (Mary) was a photographer, born about 1849 in Harford County, Kentucky. After the death of her husband, Charles Waldack, in the early 1880s, she operated his Cincinnati photograph and ferrotype gallery until 1893.

Although Mary was a talented photographer in her own right, her fame was eclipsed by that of her husband, Charles Waldack (born 1828 in Ghent, Belgium). In 1866, he led a photographic expedition deep into Mammoth Cave, Kentucky and made more than 40 negatives several miles from actual daylight by exploding 3/4 ounces of magnesium filings and 1/4 ounce pulverised gunpowder in reflectors. His prints and stereo views made from these negatives became famous.

Charles was an active photographer in Cincinnati from 1854 until 1881. With Peter Neff he published a "Treatise of Photography on Collodion: Embracing Full Directions for Compounding the Chemicals," and between 1857-1872 he contributed numerous papers and articles to photographic literature.

In 1881, he made a trip to his Belgian homeland, leaving his wife, Mary in charge of his studio. He died shortly afterwards, but Mrs. Waldack was still managing the business as late as 1893.

It's all down to accessories (so I'm told) - and these accesories were a present from my very stylish friend Jan

I sent my very good friend Blair a belated birthday pressie package a few days ago and I was happily surprised today to find out that she already received the package. ^__^ One of the gifts I gave her was a very big Takochu plushie (made by the fab TADO). She's been posting awesomely adorable photos of her baby Takochu vinyls for weeks now, so when I saw Papa Tako, I knew he was meant to be with her. Before I shipped him off, I took a quick photo of Hello Kitty Cavey with Tako (while he was still in his plastic packaging, haha).

I wanted to wait 'til Blair received the package before I posted this photo so the package's contents would be a surprise!

Belated bday pressie :)

I'm sure I have better outfits to wear it with :p

Confused?

A Christmas pressie for my brother-in-law who travels a lot. My first attempt at making a toothbrush/toothpaste travel roll. I will modify it if I make another. Lovely mirror ball dots for the binding!

As promised, here's a more up close photo of Ethereal's eyes. The tiny stars in them really help reflect her personality and her back story...

Getting Ethereal was fate. I had been contemplating buying her for a few weeks, before the release and during the release. Finally, during a moment of weakness (right after I came back from a procedure at the dentist I had been dreading), I decided to take the plunge. After placing her in my cart, I discovered that she was the very last Summer Song Birds Berry available on the site! She was meant to be mine; I knew it. I had been worried that my transaction might have been goofed up because I kept adding her and removing her from my cart, so I contacted the Jerry Berry staff after placing my order. They verified that the payment went through... and I was all smiles after that. ^_____^

What I love about Ethereal: She reminds me of a very sad and sweet character in a graphic novel. When I look at her, I imagine her in drawing form, walking up a hill to tree with a tire swing hanging from a branch. She stands there looking at the tire swing for a moment and then decides to hop on it so she can stare down at the nature that sits before her on the hill. The whole scene is very peaceful, just like Ethereal.
