My first day there, going down to help out for a couple of weeks after the nanny quit to get married. I took the early flight to get there in time for Brenna's preschool's spring recital. She was in a group number, "bringing home my baby bumblebee," and then a "twinkle twinkle little star" trio.

See the big camcorder? Some guy really wanted a video of his kid! I didn't get a lot of good shots because I didn't want to stand up and block other people's views. I was trying out my new camera's zoom lens abilities from the back while Julie taped the "performances" from the front row.

Ava, attempting to enter the building for preschool. She needed a little help with the door.

we've been doing a lot of baking lately, so i'm trying to come up with activities to help him practice measuring. for this, T takes a generous scoop of blue sand into the measuring spoon, uses a plastic butter knife to level off the excess, then dumps the sand into the tiny bowl. i haven't yet talked to him about the different measurements he is using, but the contrast is hopefully clear as he completes the activity. this is really difficult for T, and i'm considering removing it from the shelves and re-introducing it in a few months. i found all these colorful kitchen things at target's dollar section, and the blue sand is by crayola. there is also a plastic knife on the tray, but i accidentally cropped it from the picture.

I made this using Crate Paper's School Spirit Line. Using the left over/scraps from another layout (using the EK Success Large Scallop punch. I stamped (Tiny Attacher) the circles to a pretty piece of twine {the Twinery} and made my own little make-shift banner ;).

There was a new addition built on to the preschool...now it's double.

he loves it! i also have my own wood set on his highchair; the solutions are on paper between the wood tray and the clear plastic covering. it gives him something to do with his hands (and brain) while i'm getting dinner together.

This preschool receives very little public funding, so they have to scramble month by month to take care of the 93 kids who use its facilities.

Prideens delightfully celebrated their birthdays with their Mother’s Pride family. The children enjoyed cutting the cake, eating sweets, dancing to foot tapping music and had a gala time in a fun filled celebration at school as their teachers showered their heartfelt blessings on them. For Prideens their school indeed is a garden of love that nurtures and celebrates childhood to the fullest.

Celebrations often make school a joyful place for children and make them feel at home. It also inculcates confidence and self worth, fosters peer group bonding and instills social values like sharing and co-operation in them.

I had the opportunity to visit a village 50km from Oshakati and meet some of the home-based care volunteers who work with TKMOAMS (pronounced "tahk-mohs"--and yes, I know that doesn't make sense). In this photo, Onesmus, Lea and I have just arrived at the village church where we'll be meeting with the volunteers. These preschool children were having class in the church when we arrived. Lea is on the right, heading into the church.

Morning and afternoon 4-year old preschool classes participated in a graduation ceremony as they prepare to enter kindergarten in the fall. Congratulations, to some of our littlest Bluejays!
