Chirp is two months away from being seven years old. It is very interesting, but when I first got him, I didn't think parrots showed much "aging." Looking back at photos of his younger self, I now see subtle apparent age differences - so subtle that I think only my family would notice them since we've lived with all his life. He looks so much more mature than when he was 3-4 years old!

We've got him on his vet's recommended diet (not seed!) and it is doing him a lot of good! I hope for many many more years with this little character.

Good to see these birds back for the spring and summer

So careful to really get clean.

Photographed this heron from the Pont Y Pair bridge, Betws y Coed, went there to try and photograph the salmon that were trying to negotiate the waterfalls on the river Llugwy. Saw three or four salmon in 20 minutes of watching, no photographs unfortunately.

Cygnet preening. More adolescent swan than cygnet now!

A Crowned Crane knows the importance of good grooming at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans.

Ran across this preening Eastern Cottontail on the trail to Little Baldy in the Wichita Mountains of SW Oklahoma. Seems there are lots of cottontails every spring, but by fall the predators have reduced their numbers. Good thing they are prolific.

Got to watch a lot of geese fly into the pond today. Most of them were calm and tolerated me watching. I got quite close to some and got some good shots....finally.

I love to watch the Warbling Vireos.....their cheerful songs accompany me all day. This one was getting itself in order for the day. My solution is a hat...since being out in the field at dawn leaves me little time for "preening" :)
