Atop the sign for Stonehedge Lodge in Donegal Township, PA stands a steel Predator look alike.
On display in the Military Unmanned Aerial Vehicles exhibition in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.
It is a Predator MQ-1L made by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. It flew in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq on both reconnaissance and attack missions (it is armed with Hellfire-C missiles).

At this point in the shoot, I'm getting very brave. Every time the owl's head swivels away from me, I take a couple of slow steps forward. I knew that it could hear and smell me quite well, but I was banking on its complacency that I was not hunting it.
Here, I am within just a few feet of it. I am not sure how high it was in the tree, but I would have been able to touch it had I been on a fairly short ladder and been quite a bit more insane.
Another shot of the Predator at Polaris 21. The entire group (the alien, marine, and predator) was extremely courteous and giving, posing at length for photographers and onlookers, playing it up for the kids. My two year-old daughter, however, was terrified by this costume. Later in the evening, we had to leave the masquerade when she spotted it across the hall. Three months later she still talks about the convention and "that guy," needing a little reassurance that it was "just a man in a costume" and not a monster.
